day 2264 – scooter ride

just because the sun was still out, we did a spontaneous trip out with scooter rentals. i must admit i was nervous since i’ve never ridden a scotter in my life and haven’t ridden a bike in years. we rode it from the shop in mount pleasant to ubc, taking all the bike routes possible. i stayed pretty safe for the most part with the exception of putting my foot down while trying to stop at top speed. that really did it for my knee and i couldn’t put much weight on it afterwards. it was a really fun experience and this checks off one item off my bucket list. though next time i know to layer up because it got really chilly

day 2011 – wall flip

my flips were feeling strong in class and post class training. my back tucks have been coming back to me and lately i’ve been able to get solid landings on blue mat by myself. i was curious about the wall flips so i asked to learn it to which one of the coach graciously took me through the steps. they were really cool once i started going through the whole motion with a spot. although in the end i hurt my knee on one of the awkward landing, i don’t regret having asked to learn it. since i didn’t know the extent of my injury, i did have to pull out of my hockey game later that night

day 1862 – knee dimple

while on the ground rolling, i can’t help but notice a dimpled spot in my knee. it’s a short work week, but i’ve been more fatigue waking up every morning as the week wears on. what i really need is a vacation or some personal time off away from work. i must be really burnt out from not taking a vacation all year long. continuing the grind no matter what part of the week it is

day 1765 – kp time

decided living off tape to walk normally wasn’t sustainable, so went in to the clinic to fix my neck, knee and ankle. i walked into physio clinic with many things that was either tight or wasn’t feeling right, but walked out with assurance i’ll be able to move properly again. crazy its been twenty years since my physio opened this clinic and even crazier thinking what i would have done the past fourteen years if it weren’t for him. i hope he never retires so i can continue to ham with everything i do and everything i want to do

day 1723 – knee down

img_20200130_2145592834883669820100762.jpgone knee down and only one working knee left to hobble on. i felt like a genius laying all out to make a beautiful play at handball, but my body isn’t feeling so genius after the adrenaline died down. it’s probably the right decision to skip out on dodgeball when i can’t fully weight bear on that leg. as much as i want to play, i shouldn’t take that risk. what i really need is my physicians but one is on vacation and the other is overtly busy. i’ll manage myself with some home remedies

day 321 – guess where i am

image

taking what i deem as necessary steps to getting back on the mats, on the courts and in the gym. at physio taking orders, working hard and taking beating that will ultimately give myself the best chance and most optimal return date. here i know i am in the good hands of my physio and kinesiologists who is pushing me hard to train me better everyday. don’t ever change because you guys don’t let me slack

day 315 – physio’s jail free verdict

image

one of the best days that brought me the happiest news in past three weeks. physio informed me xrays shows no fracture and i no longer require an mri like initially suggested. which ultimately means i am finally jail free and cleared to gradually get back. all i need to do is do the exercise as i am told to work my way back up, and let my physio take care of the rest and hopefully make my comeback soon. it will for sure involve a lot of patience, hard work, training and tons of beating. i will no doubt work hard at it and push myself within the constraints, because i am determined to get back and surpass my top form
