day 2043 – dodgeball rolling

first week of the dodgeball season for me and not a very good start at all. i landed on the ball and immediately knew that shit just happened. now i have no good ankle to stand or walk on. the first thought that went through my head was how much pain i was in, but rather how i could get back cause i have flips to do and hockey games to play. to look at it postuvely, it’s still early in the dodgeball season so i’ll be able to get back

day 1792 – supreme me

ate a late night banana and hope i don’t get leg cramps overnight after a night of flipping and hockey sandwiched with a quick dinner. got a chance to test out my newly acquired supreme shin pads and i like the coverage. overall, my line played a good game despite getting hit in the ribs with a slapshot during warmup. i felt it immediately and hunched over for a good while and the fact adrenaline hasn’t clicked in wasn’t a good feeling. it hit hit directly in unpadded territory between my pants and chest protector. i’ll definitely see the big bruise tomorrow morning

day 1325 Рpunctured

i looked down at my foot because i felt some pain, only to see red. i spent two hours hiding in the washroom trying to stop the bleeding because i didn’t want my parents to know. as i want for the bleeding to stop, doctor friends told me to go emergency room plus get my tetanus shot done soon. my mom later told me i had left a trail of bloodied footprints from the kitchen and up the stairs to my room. so i still need to play queen’s tomorrow and hoping that an insurmountable of gauze will cushion the wound and let me play

day 1038 – walk in not

image

i went to a walk in clinic with one thing on my mind – to get doctor’s clearance to play dodgeball again. i needed this more than ever because i am not about to miss pinepaple playoffs. turns out just my luck that the clinic closes early on fridays. instead of getting my note, i went out to have a chocolate toast for afternoon tea which i would consider carb loading before race day

day 990 – rdl champ

image

i couldn’t have been more satisfied winning rdl tier 2 champs. every sour catch kid stepped up and played together down the stretch to make this happen. it was a hard earned championship where we had to fight through many tough series and come back from the loser’s bracket. it did come with a cost. i took two shots in the head in a single play – one being a ball that struck me in the collarbone area, the other being a follow through elbow in the back of my head. it was a scary moment because i don’t recall dropping down on the floor like a rock and being unresponsive for a good minute or two. regardless, i just wanted to get up and continue playing because the finals meant the world to me. i can deal with the consequences after it’s all said and done

day 675 – messy me

image

all i wanted to do was have my¬†recovery drink but turns out i spent a lot more time cleaning up the mess i made than the time required to finish drinking. what made matters worse was i didn’t just fail once, but twice. the first scoop, powder flung out all over my table. then second scoop, i dropped the scoop and scattered on my lap, chair and floor. turns out to be too much work

day 590 – spin at river rock

image

what would i do after friday night training on friday the 13th?? testing out my luck at the casino but it is heart stakingly painful to watch as my stack of chips depletes. i am holding onto my stack of chips and playing it carefully, thinking i make strategic wagers that will win everything back. i didn’t break even but at least i went in with a set amount that i would bet so i knowing i can walk out without breaking my bank
