day 2388 – killarney session

no taekwondo at killarney but a group of my students had their first session of tricking. most of the session was spent mainly working on front tuck and back tuck. they all did very well listening and learning new things. looks like they all enjoyed jumping around and doing the drills. i wanted to be in action as well, but my ankle wasn’t feeling too good last two days so i stayed back a bit. i did demonstrate one back tuck at the end which was pretty satisfying too

day 2346 – plex

had second thought about continuing with the adventure plex plan because my ankle flared up after hockey last night. the ganglion-like lump appeared again even though nothing particular happened during the game. on top of front tucks, i can now do back tucks and back handsprings on the trampoline and airtrack. hopefully next time i come back i’ll also be able to do front handsprings, websters and flash kicks

day 2312 – level up box

when i tried to test my ankle with light box jumps two weeks ago, i had ample of problems jumping into an eighteen inch box. flash forward two weeks later, i’ve leveled up and can comfortably jump onto a twenty four inch. although it’s nowhere near the thirty nine i had back then, i’ll take this as a big step because anything forward is never granted given the situation i’m in. i can’t really tell if i’m doing rehab or preparing myself for prehab

day 2296 – missing me

this is an extreme pessimism post because i’ve seriously had enough everything. there’s so much i miss about this. i miss being able to move without so much pain and limitations. i miss being the fittest, strongest and best shape of my life. i miss doing backflips, kicks and flips at will. i miss playing hockey and dodgeball with all my teammates. i miss the soreness that came after every lifting and training session. i miss being able to jump and climb onto anything i wanted to. i miss the summer sunshine and being outdoors until night. i miss doing everything i can’t do at the moment

day 2112 – adventure plex

our gstrings midseason bonder became a season end bonder. the trampoline is a different beast because it gives so much more height and has so much recoil. it definitely took some time adjusting and controlling the front flips and back flips. we also tried the ninja courses, rock climbing walls, dodgeball and free run area. i stayed away from bubble soccer and only did back flips there. we were all so pooped when our two hours were up. i want to come back for more flips, and hopefully next time my ankles will be okay to let me try things like roundoff back flip

day 2083 – sanders sanding

brought all my plyometric boxes into flightclub so we could all so some sanding together. we waited until the parking lot cleared out before we got started and didn’t finish until well past dinner time. at that point, i was too tired to join them for late night wings, so i went home and ate whatever was leftover. i should have been more prepared to be covered in sawdust. now that sanding is complete, i’m debating if i should do a paint job and add a rubber surface to the tops

day 2060 – floor tucks

i’m beyond stoked that i just landed my first ever back tuck on unsprung floor. with the successful reps i had this week, i was encouraged to try it on taekwondo mats. i stretched and warmed up on four separate occasions but stopped short and almost wanted to back out because i felt pressured when there were too many students and parents around. i waited until the last hour of teaching before i decided it’s now or never. i committed to the tuck with everything i got, and to my amazement, i landed on my feet. i did it a second time because i couldn’t believe it. every part of me was shaking well after, but all i felt was the craziness of succeeding on something i’ve been longing for
