day 1939 – mr. brown

had a day with my parents before heading to grandma’s place for a homecooked dinner. we spent the day shopping at apm and in the area of guan tong. i didn’t but anything in particular, except a matcha ice cream waffle cone from tsujiri. i tell myself it’s okay to indulgence a little, as long as i keep up with the walking and workout. i did, however, meet gigantic mr brown and couldn’t resist the urge to climb on him as per usual. i started a lineup of kids also wanting to sit on gigantic mr brown

day 1860 – netflix cooking

being labour day, there wasn’t much to do on this statutory holiday. i’m all hiked out this weekend, so decided against going out and was perfectly fine staying indoors. a home cooked montreal steak and beet salad paired with two netflix movies. we watched guardians of the galaxy 2 and coco. both movies were good, but coco stood out more, i guess there was less hype leading up to this. finished off the movie binging night with a vanilla caramel drumstick

day 1833 – spot prawns

my parent’s week-long tour of greater vancouver continues with steveston fisherman’s wharf. dinner is served with loads of fresh seafood that my parents brought home from steveston market. my family rarely chooses to eat shellfish for health reasons. for some reason my parents planned out today to be a homecooked seafood fest. i couldn’t turn down the fresh sockeye salmon and delicious spot prawns

day 1526 – double yolk

mom cooked lots of food for dinner and bought mooncake for dessert to celebrate mid autumn festival with the family. it gets harder and harder to have a full family dinner because my schedule is just so packed. i’m glad they understand that i am working hard and grinding every single day. they know i’m hardworking trying to establish a better future but they’re always concerned i don’t eat. i’ll just make the most of the special dinners we get together. i guess i can allow myself to have meals and desserts this once in a while. i hate being called fat, but maybe i’ll just have to accept it’s the truth and that i’m getting fat

day 1383 – mapo tofu

my family is away in asia so we had our’s early. this is the perfect time to have some lomo time. i’m stuffed from our home cooked meal as tried our hand at making mapo tofu and siu mai. it turned out very tasty.  the only adjustments i would make for next time is taking out the black bean paste and the proportion of tofu to meat. we’ll be using each other as test subjects while i have the entire house to myself. the weekend passed by too quickly but it was a pleasant one

day 1261 – meal prep

image
my parents are back this evening meaning final day of meal prepping. i’m proud of myself because i’m tired as ever but already in at work at 7:30am even after getting off school at 10:30pm yesterday night. also, i have mostly been able to feed myself during the time my parents were away. my self-made lunch boxes are looking better and better each time my parents go on vacation. but one thing i need to do much better on is getting enough sleep

day 1243 – family christmas

image

it’s another christmas dinner, this time a party with my family. everyone chipped in with at least a dish; mom provided the turkey with stuffing just like every year. there was also papaya soup, baked sole, avocado salad, salmon pinwheels, and ice wine. i’m blessed to have shared the many laughs on this special day with my loved ones and hope that everyone else did as well. finished off a wonderful christmas day watching a tokyo drift with the company of mo. i couldn’t ask for a better way to spend the evening of christmas day
