day 1973 – annual turkey feast

another year has gone by and it’s time for another tong’s family turkey feast on christmas day. this year features the main event juicy turkey stuffed with fried rice, with baked pork loin, cod and cilantro, baked potato crisps, grilled asparagus and choice of wine pairing. so many dishes on the table we almost ran out of real estate. i didn’t get to taste every dish before i got way too full. everything tasted really good and of course the turkey was my favourite of all. i think it’s safe to say i need to go on a cut after the holiday celebrations

day 1971 – fried chicken

it’s crazy to say that it’s my first time eating fried chicken since highschool. i normally refrain from fried foods; i made an exception today not only because it is the holiday week, but also because i’ve never tasted the korean fried chicken everyone boasts about. it tasted delicious as expected, and the crunchiness between my teeth was also to a high level of satisfaction. i don’t know when i’ll have it again, so i’ll savour the zesty sweet and sour sauce that came along with the fried chicken

day 1970 – girls potluck

my christmas holiday officially started for me which means no work, much needed rest and endless eating. an afternoon potluck party with ex and current company girls. i brought homemade turkey pies to the table to add to the sushi, wings, cookies and cheesecake. besides eating, the next couple hours was spent watching some chrome cast and getting the down low on things that went wrong. good times and good laughs with the girls

day 1957 – seasons gifts

tis the season where christmas gifts and chocolates from students and parents start to flow in. this is the time where students and parents show their appreciation of the hard work we put in throughout the whole year. today’s surprises were a box of godiva chocolate and a starbucks gift card. the chocolates are dangerous because i have a soft spot for certain types of chocolates and will end up eating all of them by myself

day 1605 – hd potluck

this is my second christmas potluck with hd and i’d say i enjoyed this one a lot more than the last. this year, acquaintances became friends and friends became good friends. i set out to accomplish a lot at work this calendar year and certainly i did it. i received year end thank you cards with from the words of my manager and big boss – amazing what you’ve accomplished this year! i made majority of my deadlines in the overworked months, and my break is definitely earned. there’s a lot more in store for me when i return, but for now my job is to recuperate and get ready to rock it in the new year. everyone’s waiting and watching on my comeback year

day 1596 – get happy

wake up and be happy that i’m making a difference in someone’s day. happy moment when i feel like i got a lot done and got a shoutout during the admin meeting. as usual i got home pretty late but pretty happy that the day went well and that although there’s a lot of deadlines, everything went smoothly. with christmas just a dozen days away, each day is getting more precious and more booked up by the minute

day 1592 Рgramercy

i never questioned whether my heart is in the right place cause i know it myself. the holiday card and written notes says it all. this reminds me of why i continue to push through my hectic life to be teaching year after year. the commitment is by no means small, but one that is meaningful to me. i don’t want to give up these kids i’ve trained, some for several months and some seven years. i forget what it’s like to be appreciated for what i do and what i do well. i thought it didn’t bug me, but it actually does and i’m told i should never tolerate or take it from anyone that doesn’t appreciate
