day 2507 – teaching goofs

back to the gym on a saturday morning ready to do the job i know so well. i left alone for my students for a minute and found these goof balls climbing on the make-belief horse. i am a little bummed out i had to pull out of stick and puck in the evening because of my finger injury. i’m sad, but can’t deny that it was for the better. i’m pretty tired after a full day of teaching so driving out to langley wasn’t quite enticing. i went home after teaching and chilled for the rest of the night

day 2404 – stick and puck

probably shouldn’t have gone to stick and puck, but it felt manageable with a mild ankle sprain. it’s not often i have the availablity in mid day so i joined the crew anyways. lots of space to practice with only seven people on the ice in total. got a chance to do some passing, worked a bit on my snapshot, learned some dangles and played a mini two on two shinny. it was fun with a bigger group out except i had no legs left by the time tricking class came around

day 2394 – regular game

the score wasn’t pretty but the game was very fun compared to last game when we played against a ridiculously dirty and physically dangerous team. it was also the last squirtle regular season game and playoffs begin with a one bye week. stayed after on the bench to take pictures and enjoy our lemon tea. ended up lingering for another hour before we got out of the change room. it’s been a while since i last stuck around with the team, maybe because i feel more comfortable with the people that were present

day 2385 – retiring sedinery

tonight’s jersey retirement ceremony was magnificent in so many ways. the amount of alumnus that were in attendance, the introductions, and the speeches made it feel so complete. my soul lit up when i got to see linden and naslund along with the rest like ohlund, burrows, bieksa and kesler. i’m so fond of all the things both daniel and henrik sedin did as a canuck. i’ll never forget all the incredible moments that i’ve witness. they deserve every bit of this recognition for no two players will ever come as good as the sedinery

day 2359 – squirtle defense

mostly been a winger for squirtle all season, but getting my time at defense tonight. i much enjoy that our team can be in the same locker room as opposed to separating it be gender. we lost by a margin, but i still had fun. honestly my ankle is struggling when in that skate. the ganglion on the medial side is only getting worse and really bothers me especially in the second half of the game. i’m not sure what i need to do and how to address this issue. what will it take to continue playing this sport?

day 2350 – nacho business

getting my new nacho jersey after two and a half months out of the nachos lineup and first game since we’ve been tiered down. this will be shortest bench of the season of only nine skaters, so we went with six forwards and three defense. rolling three defense was tough, we ran out of gas by the end of the game. despite the short bench, it was really fun and enjoyable now that we’re in a suitable tier

day 2345 – hockey rust

making my first squirtle appearance since the many damages that started in october. the rust on the ice was real and it didn’t help that we’ve been tiered up. the score was very lopsided even though my team got many shots of goal. my line had plenty of good chances, but couldn’t bury any. after gearing off, i rushed back to flightclub for board games night. i didn’t stay until the end, but even then it was already past 2am and i’ve been up for close to twenty one hours

day 2293 – nucks verse preds

the canucks have been doing surprisingly well out of the gate this season. i’ve been keeping up with the canucks games on television as much as i can. my linden jersey was ready to catch it live at rogers arena for this first time this season. the young players and new prospects have been doing really well. so glad to witness pettersen score two goals on his birthday. i’m still debating if i should buy a 50th anniversary jersey with pettersen stitched

day 2267 – brief scare

taking that puck off my arm in last night’s game was a heart stopper for sure. my mind flashed back to so many things that happened during the time i broke my thumb. it narrowly missed my wrist bone; had it hit, i can’t imagine what the outcome could’ve been. i had at looked at by my physio friend and thankful i didn’t have to go to the hospital. i admit i play aggressive, but i swear i’m not careless

day 2261 – pinching defense

defense duties today was fun because my defense partner mentioned i have the green light to pinch at my own risk. i did just that and took advantage especially when the opposing weaker forward was on the ice. i didn’t make any defensive mistakes and even i came so close to potting one in the net. we still won 3-2 to continue the squirtle win streak. i wish i could say the same for nachos
