day 2235 – castle fun park

we made a detour to abbotsford on our way home from harrison hot springs. first time going to castle fun park. naturally our first stop was at the hockey accuracy game. we then hit up the throwing mound, batting cage, and dragon punch before settling for the less strenuous arcade games. i did a tornado kick and it may have caused some technical difficulties because the target didn’t retract after that. we spent almost three hours playing; it felt like pladium all over again

day 2231 – nacho game

this team of white girls was not only huge, they were also fiesty. thankful no injuries resulted from any of the rough plays. i got an elbow to the head, shoved away in front of my own net and countless chops to the stick. i laid out a big hit, unfortunately it was to my own teammate when we were both rushing towards the puck at the blue line. we drew first blood but they tied it in the third. luckily it ended in a tie game even after a frantic overtime

day 2224 – nacho season opener

we had a rough start with some jersey cafluffle, but nacho friends season opener turned out to be really fun. because we’re a brand new team still trying figure so much out, it took us two periods to get on the scoreboard. i had a rough first period trying to get my legs underneath me and it didn’t help that i dove to block a puck and ended up feeling like my airway was obstructed. you’d think i learned my lesson, but i dove again in the third period to keep the puck on side which ended up to be the first assist of two. we lost 3-2 but it was a fun and tame game

day 2209 – ashl info night

the ashl season is coming up quicker than we know it and it’ll be up to me and my assistant captain to to get everyone else up to speed. this is nacho friend’s first season in ashl, so attending the team rep meeting was pertinent. i never knew the league was so big, even the women’s division had forty one teams. picked up the all important league rule book so now i have some reading to do. i’m hoping this will be a fun team and a fun season

day 2171 – late comer

i arrived extremely late for civil war and it was almost like a gear up speed test to get onto the ice in time for the second shift. i was close to not going to hockey at all because i had been tied up with taekwondo, tired from an extra long shift of teaching and just tired in general. somehow, i got convinced and pressured to show up; i guess better late than never. i had to book it home after our ice time because i’m expecting to wake up at 6am tomorrow

day 2164 – triad locker

i played pretty horrible game of civil war, but still had fun off the ice. all the fun horsing around in the locker room making jokes, discussing pick up draft, chucking tape balls and locking out people. the squirtle squad locker room is never a dull moment. i felt like i at least had my legs under me second game back, but playing centre and forechecking in an olympic-sized rink will do it

day 2143 – short day

it was an unexpectedly short saturday compared to any of my normal. i woke up for a chiropractor appointment, taught taekwondo classes, had dinner with parents and passed out before 9pm. i couldn’t even stay awake sitting, so i had to bail on hockey last minute which i felt really bad about. i guess the combination of jetlag, crazy late friday night, early saturday morning and a tiring solo teaching shift got the best of me
