day 1781 – bobbles reunite

took long enough to get the second half of my sedin bobble head. with the sedins, it is only complete with the two of them are linked side by side. to be honest, even though the retirement was announced two months ago, i already miss both henrik and daniel. i can’t imagine how different the locker room of the canucks with be come september. i don’t remember how it was like before the sedin brothers came and took over the franchise. i’m also hopeful that some of the young guns will step up to take on more

day 1712 – most improved

wrapped up vachl season with a loss, a game which we could have taken with the team’s build. regardless of the scoreboard, it was made fun by the good bunch i’m surrounded by. won myself a drawstring bag being handed the most improved player award. it’s been a a weird season for me having spent much time on the disabled list after a broken thumb, but came back strong to finish the season. hung out with some teammates to catch part of daniel and henrik’s final canucks game ever and then back on the ice for civil war opener. my legs are dead tired from too much action

day 1710 – sedin day

forget about dodgeball, i’m watching sedin brother’s final home game ever. the game was simply amazing. it was an emotional night; i found myself feeling the sadness knowing it’s the last time i’ll get to watch them play in this jersey. their final career home game had a perfect ending, as one would have written the script. daniel potted two goals while henrik padded his assist stats on both. to add to their amazing stats, daniel holds all-time record with double digit overtime goals and henrik holds the all-time overtime assist record. one more game in their nhl career, and canucks career. i’m sure there’ll be just as much mixed emotional heading into that game. “don’t cry because it’s over, be happy that it happened.” they have certainly left a great legacy

sedinery era

i’m utmost shocked the sedin twins have announced retirement today. when the news first appeared on my news feed, my heart sank and i was crying inside. how i wished it was fake news, how i wished it was still april fools. i remember watching the draft pick in 1999, when two baby-faced boys stepped on the stage after brian burke announced his second and third picks consecutively. they took a lot of criticism over the years, but for the longest time they carried the team on their backs. it was evident to see their growth in nhl, as i watched them turn from boys to men. through the eighteen years of sedinery, they invented a brand of telepathic hockey never seen before, and they have the hart, art ross, king clancy and ted lindsay to show for. despite not having won a stanley cup in their nhl days, they had an amazing career in vancouver. the fact they stayed a canuck their whole career says a lot with totals like over two thousand six hundred games played and over two thousand one hundred points. regardless, cup or no cup, they were remarkable players that displayed class and leadership on and off the ice. so often i hear opposing players have insurmountable respect for them, even those on rival teams. i wish they didn’t make this announcement so i can continue to watch them play, but it felt right for them and their families. i’m going to miss their cycles, slap passes, between the legs tip passes, playoff heroics, and most importantly i’m going to miss seeing number twenty-two and thirty-three on the ice. the fact both of them attaining their one thousandth point this season is a very fitting way to end a hockey career. they’ll go down as one of the best twins to have ever played the game. i hope one day they will be inducted into the hockey hall of fame

day 1269 – hank

henrik makes headlines as he makes canucks history recording his one thousandth point all in a canucks jersey. i am jealous that my brother got tickets to the game and witnessed it live. it’s great to see him finally getting recognition because he’s such a quiet captain; i’m waiting for the day daniel makes the same mark because the sedin twins comes in pairs afterall

day 476 – canucks swag

super awesome friend brought my jersey to canucks meet and greet to get some autographs, but i received much more than that. the trevor linden plaque with autograph was a big bonus and now a linden jersey would make my collection pretty extensive and complete. who knows maybe one day i will meet linden my long time childhood idol himself in person and take a photo with him
