day 1998 – shin splints

the shin splints got really bad today. i had a really hard time at taekwondo, but still had a hockey game to play afterwards. we were so short of skaters this game; we just rolled the skaters since we could only muster two on the bench. right before hockey, i did a retape and also did a combination of heat pad and vyper rolling. not helping the shin by having hockey on back to back nights

day 1967 – yankee swap

another year pass by and it comes time for our design christmas lunch and yankee swap in the boardroom. lunch was served with a combination of pasta, salad, cake and sparkling juice. we work hard all year round so it’s good to end the year off by getting the whole department together where we don’t talk about work issues. i got to know a few design people a little better over the last little while. i took home a gift very suitable for me – an organic back wrap microwaveable for both cold and heat aromatherapy. now this is a ticket to continue to go wild with my sports and activities

day 1355 – midjump

powering through easter sunday with some power cleaning. i had to stop my jumps as i heard something in my tailbone midway through a jump. i hope a combination of heat pad, ice pack and advil will alleviate some discomfort because that’s the last thing i need to take with me on vacation. i did a terrible thing to my parents and feel the guilty that i really owe it to my parents. i’ll make note to never let that happen again

day 1300 – less sensation

it was a bad ending to a monday night aggravating my hip at dodgeball shortly after having pulled it at taekwondo. i went home the whole way not having sensation in my right leg from my hip down; not a feeling i’ve ever felt. my night has been rounds of ice, heat and patch repeat. i can’t get my mind off two things: what happens with my competition and can i play my games this week. i’m doing lots to make it go away

day 927 – first aid kit

taping because i am wrecked and can’t get medical attention until after a weekend full of activities. the pain is so strong i don’t recall pain overriding the painkillers, or just popping painkillers in general. before i can get medical help, i am relying on tape jobs, compression sleeves, flossing and heat pads. one of those is bound to let me continue, there’s really no stopping or pausing in life

day 598 – constantly rolling

it has been two weeks since my groin strain and there’s still so much restriction and off limit activities. i was told i am only allowed to do gentle stretches and even then sometimes it still doesn’t want to cooperate. no doubt any kicking and stretches not deemed mild are off limits and must refrain from doing them for the greater good. i need this to heal sooner rather than later because it kills me to be inactive

day 475 – physioterrorist

wrist took a series of unfavorable blows this past week which caused it to be pretty much next to useless. though my left hand is much weaker in comparison, it is used extensively and losing function changes all complexity. driving is made tenfold more difficult since i am a left handed driver.  a much needed check up with my physio to fix that ailing wrist and seized up leg. after some excruciating pain, i was told to stay put for next twenty four hours and do nothing beyond walking and heat pad
