day 1981 – icebox

waking up at 6am was utterly difficult after sleeping in for so many. greeted by the ice cold office on the first day back at work. the heating system was doing the exact opposite of what it should be doing – bringing the outside cold air into the office. i was so cold my extremities were frozen and my brain refused to function. all i wanted to do was hover over my heater to stay sane. i felt utterly unproductive, but i guess a lot of others were on the same boat. i was told winter is coming

day 1929 – bugis market

first full day in singapore and we were greeted by a thunderstorm on our way to the hotel. so far, we’ve seen a variety of weather from thunderstorms, pouring rain, and scorching heat. we touched down on bugis market on our first night, a district famous for its street foods and street vendors. we walked through the crowded blocks where things were decently priced. i went home having bought a few pieces of clothing for work

day 1831 – woodland walk

bonding time with coworkers out at coquitlam woodland walk trail. this hike wasn’t suppose to take five hours to complete, but it did. there weren’t any clear markers; i can see why there’s not many people on this trail. getting lost, going off route, going into private property and back tracking was what we did a lot of. the end of the hike was rewarding as we found a nice waterfall all to ourselves. it was tiring in the heat, but it was worth the sweat and we’re already planning the next one

day 1824 – current status

icing and heating both my shoulder and elbow while maintaining movement is the story of the day. i really didn’t know what to do and what to think of it because i hadn’t done any tests, scans or rays. i refused to go to emergency even though dozens urged me to do so. i had no mood to do anything knowing sports is off limits right now. so i just stayed at home in the heat and sweated my sorrows away

day 1810 Рdragon and demo

ten years of early morning stanley park doing walk with the dragon in what must be thirty degrees. it’s never easy getting through one these but this year is different; sifu is not in town to give orders from all directions. nonetheless, being under the sun in blazing heat for five hours drained all the water out of me. the demo went fairly well and we got out of the venue before 1pm. my heel started giving me problems as i was leaving the park. when i got home after lunch, all i couldn do was lie down. there was no point in going to hockey in this state, i was better off taking a nap before dinner time

day 1541 – recasted

i was anxious to see my referred hand specialist also known as cosmetic plastic surgeon. i saw my bruised and shriveled up hand as he removed my splint to take a new set of xrays. after flipping back and forth a dozen times and examining my bone, he decided he wasn’t satisfied and wanted to reexamine next week. he sent me home recasted with a fiberglass splint only to do it all over again to decide if i require surgery or not. the splint is slightly less bulky, but just as uncomfortable. i pray for it to meld back together quickly so i can get back to doing what i do

day 1495 – september stroll

whenever labour day weekend rolls around, i feel the need to get some the last of vitamin d before rain hits. good thing it’s still a hot day so i spent it with a stroll at fisherman’s wharf. the heat wave was strong today as with this summer season, but i’m not complaining. a change up was welcomed, maybe there’s hope that things will get better. illusion or not, my heart will soon tell it’s genuine. i’ll let it be the judge to see if it can be mended
