day 907 – aussie open

image

so jelly my friend is catching all the australian open live. i wish one day i will be able go to watch live grand slam matches especially at us open. it was my goal to watch roddick play in person, but he retired much too soon to my dismay. now i will rest that hope on a live federer match one day. i guess in the meantime i’ll settle with watching federer play his quarterfinals match tomorrow night

day 771 – tennis fever

image

the plan for tonight was only to hit for roughly an hour and a half, but ended up going all out for three. so instead of a late dinner like i had initially told my mom, it ended up late night snacking at 10:30pm. started off mellow and hitting lightly, then round two heated up and everyone began ripping the ball like they wanted to take each other’s heads off. felt so good to let my swing loose, but my good knee didn’t feel so good halfway through, hope it will feel better tomorrow after a night of icing with frozen peas

day 757 – love this sport

image

my body is tired and still recovering from the long trek but nothing is going to stop me from enjoying the pleasures of tennis – the love of my life. if the opportunity presents itself, i don’t need a reason to be here playing this sport. my arms felt extra heavy and still feeling rusty but i still had a great time hitting the hardcourt. need more days like this to fill my life with much more tennis

day 750 – court time

image

it’s been much too long since my last hitting session and finally getting some tennis in this evening. i found it extremely hard to get the feeling back in my hands and legs, my shots are getting too flat and rather inconsistent. the next session better not be as far apart as this one, i need to get all my hitting partners to hit up the courts before autumn chases us out

day 664 – dusty rackets

image

shaking off the dusty rackets and bringing my rusty self to burnaby courts this evening. it’s been way too long since i last hit tennis balls hence it took so long to get some of the feeling back, but still far from the level of play it used to be. this is only the start of my tennis season, hoping this summer will be a good one full of hardcourt, squeaky shoes and whacking green balls

day 525 – purple barricades

image

said i was going to lay off posting food pictures for a while if wasn’t completely necessary, so i decided to drool over these new shoes that i really want. i can picture myself sporting these purple barricades looking super awesome on the court. too bad they don’t make them in a size small enough for me or i would make them mine in an instant. i guess it’s also a good thing because i have way too much pairs of tennis shoes and only one pair of feet

day 463 – hamber pride

image

much of my highschool highlights revolved around sports, teams and coaches; it’s safe to say i spent majority of my time in and around the gym. every practice and every game was full of hardwork and sweat, but we do it because we hold each other accountable for their own role. going out to tournaments shared a lot of special moments and memories that created lasting friendship. strong rapport was built amongst the group of girls and coaches, and that was a major reason we had the success we did. i am always glad to see we continue to uphold the tradition of alumni games, it brings me great pride to be a hamber alumni

day 410 – tennis time

image

having been plagued with waves of injuries throughout the summer months left me nothing but an empty feeling inside. constantly battling injury after injury, i am finally on the mend, feeling better and can finally say my knees didnt bother me during today’s tennis session. able to take advantage of the perfect weather and do what i love to do without limitations has rarely happened the past few months. but because it happened today, it turned my weekend from a good one to a great one. taught me never to take health for granted, and i can only cherish every pain free moment more than before. it’s a good feeling i sense i have turned the corner and feel closer to my normal self again. the focus over the next little while will be on getting better, training back to normal self and eventually to a better and stronger state

day 402 – morning session

image

got out bright and early to fit hitting prior to a super long and busy day and also beat out others for the courts. these confederation courts are so popular and fill up fast during prime time. my knee gave me little trouble for the most part during the play, but that’s also due to my numerous tape jobs and braces that helps me keep things intact. i’d go the distance to make sure i get to play what i love

day 397 – much needed restringing

image

it was not raining just like the forecast promised, so was out doing some light hitting because i was getting major tennis withdrawal. playing with great deal of caution knowing my movements are very limited and knee is nowhere near fine but make do with current condition. making a last push for this summer before the tennis season is gone and desperately needing some new strings and if next weekend is sunny, guess where i can be found
