day 1625 – surf and turf

throw it back to the days of summer and when expeditions brought us tight. those were the days the gang would get together to go out in the middle of the sea to do weird things. that one summer i wakesurfed, wakeboard, paddle board, kayaked and canoed. as a kid i loved the water, until it became bitterness for something i couldn’t fulfill. it’s time i get back into it and revisit what i grew up doing. summer is months away, but i have some plans up my sleeve to cross off things on my bucket list

day 1557 – karaoke party

the start of saturday morning shifts has begun so i’ll be working nine straight hours on saturdays between two jobs. i wonder how long i will last with sixty four hour work weeks before i burn out. i was tired after the two shifts but doesn’t change my plans for an impromptu karaoke and board games night. i had a good night chilling with peeps. it was the fun i used to have; the good company kept from thinking why i’m still feeling solo all the time. it’s not a good feeling to always never have the support of the closest ones. i miss the times when i could be out way past midnight and actually have a night life

day 1322 – transformation

this is not a throwback thursday, but a random photo sifu sent me today and i thought it was funny but fitting. to a raw competitor of six years ago, when i also sparred at bc champ. i can’t keep track of how many competitions i have been to since then; it’s probably a good sign when i don’t. i miss the good old days when i had coaches to turn to, but now i, myself, have taken on that role and can only rely. on myself. still trying to grow into someone i could rely on. it’s a special day for lomo, but no time to celebrate

day 1078 – play ball

keep the activities coming with some court time at gladstone before extra demo rehearsal. i miss the good old days when the gang would go hit for hours every other day. i don’t make it out as much as they do but hoping that changes soon. my legs are gased by the time demo rehearsal came around. my body is definitely physically taxed and i can feel the weariness, but keep them coming

day 1044 – reunion tour

image

bringing back the full underconstruction crew where all of us are in the same timezone. nothing like an evening spent digging up past memories, laughing at our glorious days and relinquishing our dominance as a team. it’s amazing we rarely realize how far back we go and how long our friendship has lasted. we’re a rowdy bunch when the four are put together; reminiscence of the good old days. never underestimate the value of true friendship; we will always have each other’s back no matter which continent we are on

day 1037 – disney trip

image

traveling back to year 2011 when a group of rowdy hamberites made a trip out to los angeles and disneyland. it captured many of the good times that we shared, and sometimes i look back and wonder why life was so much easier back then. so much has changed since this trip; people come and go but some hamberites will always stick together. can’t wait until we have our next hamberite reunion trip

day 890 – campus grounds

image

i am only here because ubc can’t get it together, therefore i had to step in to put that all back into order. the campus that had it all, where lots of joy, sadness, laughter, tears, stresses and surprises collided to create lasting memories. having a nostalgic moment with the siting of irving. the brief visit was more so sprinting around trying to find answers and solutions to problems that shouldn’t have been problems to begin with
