day 1172 – referee debut

image

going to master cup with with the identity of a referee instead of a competitor or coach. first time officiating provincial sparring matches and official blackbelt poomsae divisions; definitely an eye opener. crazy long day with ten straight hours of taekwondo today. i definitely enjoyed judging the official blackbelt as opposed to being centre referee for sparring. i needed tying tie tutorials first thing in the morning as i haven’t worn a tie since hong kong elementary school days

day 1039 – spartan sprint

image

today i did something i never thought i would do in my lifetime which was completing my first ever spartan sprint obstacle race. it was a grueling course that had me wondering why i had signed myself up. upon completion, i am thankful for having experienced this and grateful to be working our butts off together. i am tired and sore everywhere and i know my body will be sorry tomorrow. heading into the race with next to no training, i’m satisfied with how well i completed the obstacles, especially anything related to jumping, climbing and swinging. however, that does stop me from being bitter of the spear station that handed me burpees

twenties series: [one] travel

image

the world is very big with many fascinating places full of opportunities to explore and see the big picture so to speak. traveling will not only broaden our horizon but also increase our knowledge on what is out there beyond our naked eye. these adventures allow us to distant ourselves from our regular everyday life and infinite stress at hand. traveling also creates meaningful and lifelong memories that no one else can strip us of. the time away from all the norm is a test and a telling story of what you have taken granted for all along; afterall, there is no place like home. traveling is not by all means easy on the bank account as it is a big commitment that requires plenty of planning but there is no reward without hard work. i for one haven’t gotten the opportunity to make the most out of my travels. there’s a whole list of cities and places i would love to visit and i will be making a conscious effort to traveling to wherever my heart desires. regardless of small trips, big trips and road trips ranging from europe, asia or even a simple drive to seattle, its an investment i want to make. remember life stops at nothing so travel while you can, go out and see the world

day 298 – keumgang

image

what used to be my weakest and least favourite poomsae has definitely taken big strides forward and huge leaps of improvement. fortunate to have professional photographer snap some shots while i was on one of the biggest and scariest stage of my life. so i can take a look at how i did and what i can improve upon next time. it would be a total lie if i said my nerves didn’t take over while i was on that stage and everything that happened in the ring was a blur. i hope to be back in this ring again in the near future

day 290 – competition day

image

competition day has arrived and i realized how nerve wrecking it is to be up on the stage alone in front of hundreds of judges and competitors no matter how many times i have been through this. disappointment overall cause i knew i could have and should have done better and tough luck for getting my two least favourite poomsae of all, just wasn’t meant to be this time. being my second nationals this is one of the hardest competition i have ever been to but there’s a lot of experience i can take with me. now getting exposure of the level out there, we can move forward knowing what the best in canada is capable of

day 70 – on fire like a beast!!

image

there’s a first for everything. first time playing in tier 1, first time playing 20 games in one evening, first time earning mvp nominations. felt no intimidation and tore it up like we have been here with the big guns all along. been away for a year, but today i felt like i am back on track and ready to take it to another level
