day 2238 – team dinner

team dinner after a rough game where we got shut out and outplayed in all ways. we were beaten five times before our goalie pulled out in the second period because of a knee injury and we had to play six players instead. at that point all the referee could for us was to speed up the game by playing running time. at least we had a good dinner at myst to make up for the miserable loss

day 2061 – goaltending

one of the things i’ve always wanted to try growing up was to play goalie on ice. i got that chance today during squirtle open ice. playing in net was fun, but i didn’t enjoy putting on twenty extra pounds of gear. i imagine i’d be a hasek type goalie who sprawls into full out stretches, but a bad groin didn’t allow me to go down into butterfly all that much. i had a really good catching side that carried over from softball, but the blocker side was rather uncoordinated. i was drenched in sweat by the time our session ended

day 1678 – surrey central

two straight sundays i venture into surrey, both times for the reason of going to the hockey shop. dropping off my jersey for a custom stitching and preparing it for the next game. after some browsing in the goalie section, went next door into surrey central to get my half off happy hour matcha tea latte. walked passed club 16 and peeked into the facility. i could get use to see linden’s face each time before heading through the gym doors

day 1554 – schneider’s return

rushed out after finishing all my work and teaching cause i was invited to catch a hockey game – perks from season ticket holder. i’m very happy to have row sixteen view of schneider’s return to rogers arena. he’s the reason i had this game circled in my calendar. it was an exciting game to watch, and one where i wasn’t just cheering for the canucks. in the end canucks took the loss, but definitely outplayed the devils only to be shutout by schneider

day 1417 – canucks blowout

too bad i had to teach and couldn’t go but i sent my parents to canucks inventory blowout sale weekend. my family is avid hockey fans so they came back with a few goods and accessories. lots of game worn equipment and apparel available; i would think about them but too bad their sizes are always too big. i’ve always wanted to try playing in goal but don’t have the right sized equipment to do so

day 1382 – off the post

dropped off my family for their flight to hong kong first thing, coached a morning of poomsae competition, and taught my usual taekwondo. ten hours without break before heading to my drop in game. playing drop in really cautiously so not to reaggravate my poor back and neck. surprisingly had a solid game on both ends of the ice with scoring chances, reading passes, and making back checks. i came really close but the goalie robbed me of a nice one timer. later, i had the goalie beat twice but only to have the post deny me both times. i will figure out way to find the back of the net again but overall happy with how my back responded – not worse than before the game
