day 2234 – harrison weekend

booked it out to harrison hot springs after killarney. this the largest hotel suite i’ve ever seen and the place the shower squad is staying at for jax’s stag part one. this place was chosen for its full kitchenette so we could have a taco night. we stayed up plenty late playing tons of drinking card games. i never expected that we’ll get much sleep tonight, but i just don’t want a hangover tomorrow

day 2089 – sechelt wrap

easter long weekend came to an end and so did the squirtle squad sechelt retreat. the past three days have been unforgettable in so many ways. i had a lot of fun just hanging out with this group. we didn’t do anything out of the ordinary but no shortage of action – just the basics like hotpot, barbecue, drinking, board games, and sun tan to name a few. also played around with some photoshoots, held some deeper conversations and some impromptu stints of wrestling. the bond we’ve created this weekend is beyond just being teammates

day 2088 – sechelt sloth

this getaway was meant to be everything but jam-packed and hectic. some of us just wanted to spend the afternoon relaxing on the balcony to soak in the long lost vitamin d. we laid on the balcony for hours chatting and joking our way through the day. it was good to have some team bonding time away from the rink. we definitely had a good laugh with the many jokes made and shots fired. this is a big change for me because i would never have down time like this back home. for this reason, i will take every opportunity this weekend to be the biggest sloth i can be

day 2087 – sechelt home

the squirtle squad has arrived at sechelt, the place we’ll call home for the next three days. the twelve of us have this beautiful place all to ourselves thanks to a hookup. we only have enough beds for half of us, but i think sleeping arrangement will be the least of our worries. i’ve never been to sechelt despite it only being a forty minute ferry ride away. consider this a season end team bonder on top of our championship celebration. the weekend ahead will be full of eating, drinking, gaming and a lot of laziness. we brought so much food and alcohol in anticipation of a weekend of hotpot and barbecue

day 1357 – florida bound

img_20200204_163454644489167698416944.jpgthe day did not go as planned, especially not before i take off for vacation. my work day was cut short because i threw up everything i had eaten the night before. all i could do was go home and hope that i get better after sleep. i ate a bowl of plain congee for dinner before checking into yvr for our red eye flight to florida. it all sounds like a rocky start but everything about our florida adventures must go on as scheduled

whistler wonderland

up whistler mountain we go for our little weekend escape with a blend of indoor and outdoor time. we skied whistler mountain on the first day and blackcomb mountain on the next, but both days returned to our hotel mildly frozen and then instantly warmed with a cappuccino. a great way to celebrate our ninth dining at earls and pigging out on my sirloin steak which isn’t in my normal diet. i had a good weekend not working, not stressing about school, not responding to emails, and almost undivided attention on skiing and of course mo. ideally would’ve liked to get more skiing in, but it is what it is and i’ll be sure to have more chances later this month. it was fun while it lasted, definitely looking to extend it on the next one. i have a feeling we’ll both want a warmer destination on our next go

day 1229 – whister getaway

i try to be true to myself, keep myself on track and know when i’m deserving and when i’m not. this is a very deserving winter getaway to whistler with the intent to hit the slopes and spend some relaxing time. here we get to run our own schedule – after checking into aava, it was a morning of skiing, laying low in afternoon before dinner and then an inadvertent night stroll. the slope conditions were good, icy in some but lots of fresh powder in the less travelled runs. day one of our vacation, just a day out of the norm

i can confirm winter is cold, especially up atop the mountain at the peak of whistler. the drive up sea to sky highway was pretty congested with the icy and slippery conditions, but we made it safely and unharmed, unlike my parents back in vancouver. they were involved in a hit and run but i’m not there for them and sadly cannot be of any help. i can only worry about their safety one hundred kilometres away plus pray that we find the culprit that fled the scene

summer special

the end of september can only mean that summer is officially over. september was a rough month, but i had a great summer and offseason away from dodgeball and taekwondo life. it was a summer with lots of happenings, new undertakings and big decisions that involved making a change, stepping out of my comfort zone and of course taking a chance. i live a very active lifestyle and took full advantage of the extra free time i got this summer by making my lifestyle even more active. i found myself getting really into crossfit olympic lifting plus also making the one plate club which is a big improvement. although an injury has momentarily stopped me from lifting, nothing will stop me once i regain my health. i had a blast with mo going on adventures. together, we created a lot of lomoventures with the highlight being a nice harrison hotsprings getaway. needless to say, we’ve been through a lot and grown significantly. he’s basically my zen when i get too stressed and uptight about things. no relationship is completely problem-free – we’re not different, but we’ve done well in this area. we don’t always see eye to eye, but we make sure we’re created equal and know that we like each other for who we are, then we’ll work things out. other notable events include completing a spartan sprint, playing on a softball team, training with national team coach, hiking, joining a hockey league. and of course some things never change like hitting tennis balls, visits to physio, annual walk with the dragon and the random pigging out. i look forward to improving and building upon what summer 2016 was all about

harrison holiday

for as long as i can remember, my weekend can never been classified relaxing. spending my rare weekend off with mo at harrison was an enjoyable and relaxing one. we had our active moments hitting the gym, hitting tennis balls, hitting golf balls and hitting the water. we also had our relaxing moments just soaking in the hot springs and hot tub until our skin started peeling. and then i remind myself sometimes it’s okay to indulge and eat a little and drink a little because i keep myself in check mostly for times like this. i would definitely say it was a different kind of weekend than the ones i am accustomed to, but i enjoyed the company and quality time we shared. the weekend getaway with this goof was a memorable one
