day 1694 – chashu ramen

mom’s yummy ramen for early dinner before playing volleyball. my life revolved around a lot of sports, but volleyball was never a focus sport for me. i last played it back in highschool and i don’t think my skills have declined since then. there’s no subbing out for us girls; so after an hour and a half of bump-set-spikes, my forearm was moderately discoloured. this will be a weekly activity playing in a league that rotates between multiple sports. i look forward to the variety of sports as well of the variety of people i come across

day 1684 – milky taro

the craving was there long ago, but this is actually my first taro bubble tea of the year and it was all in for the milky oreo taro slush. shared a kimchi fried rice but left the restaurant so full so worth it. it was also a fun social gathering of the civil war draft. as much as i wished for the sharks colour, i’m happy being in the golden ducks. both my ranking, scouting report was decent and being picked at where i was was good too. it’ll be a good season probably getting ice time playing multiple positions

day 1680 – olympic souvy

i’m hoping the coldest of the winter is beyond us for this season, but if it’s isn’t, i’ll have a toque to fall back on. a lot of the times the last resort for souvenirs is edibles, but honestly receiving something other than edibles is a good thoughtful souvy. didn’t catch much of the olympics being so busy with work and life, but this will be a keepsake to remember where and when it was

day 1640 – vdl retreat

still wasn’t packed an hour before midnight, but i am now so baker here i come. had a good look at my cozy cabin and claimed the bunk that i wanted to sleep in. the annual weekend getaway with the many vdl execs i work with throughout the season is always a hit. debated whether i should bring my ski equipment, but figured i’d save that for when i’m back in town. in the meantime, i’ll just savour the moment to chill and lay low while i can. one of the few weekends i can fully remove myself from all kinds of work

day 1629 – lightbulb

the can do attitude i bring forth has proven it can take me far. my role has expanded quickly since the start of january and i’m quickly recognizing that gaining responsibilities and gaining importance comes hand in hand. as such, overtiming no longer surprises me. after a hard day’s work, it was a good night chilling out with the long time taekwondo bros and sis. we’ve become such a close knit group over the years training, competing, traveling and drinking together. afterall, the road to nationals wasn’t easy, but we got each other’s back. the bond continues to be strong no matter where life takes us because taekwondo brings us all back together

day 1613 – underconstruction tradition

the tradition of our annual secret santa exchange continues during one of our parties. the friendship we share is something special when we don’t need to see each other frequently, but still have the same affection for each other. after friendly hellos, shots start firing in all cylinders and the love hate relationship is revealed. when i’m with this crew, i’m as immature as i’ve always been like hamber days because some things just don’t change. we’re still missing chu in the picture but the plan is she’ll be physically in it next time

day 1605 – hd potluck

this is my second christmas potluck with hd and i’d say i enjoyed this one a lot more than the last. this year, acquaintances became friends and friends became good friends. i set out to accomplish a lot at work this calendar year and certainly i did it. i received year end thank you cards with from the words of my manager and big boss – amazing what you’ve accomplished this year! i made majority of my deadlines in the overworked months, and my break is definitely earned. there’s a lot more in store for me when i return, but for now my job is to recuperate and get ready to rock it in the new year. everyone’s waiting and watching on my comeback year
