day 822 – back in motion

really my first time back in the gym after knee failing and having a brief scare with my ligament diagnosis two weeks ago; and that for me, is beyond a long break. i was a little worried i wouldn’t be capable of anything near my best but most of my motions felt alright. it felt really good just to be back cause i missed it dearly – i just missed moving, period. definitely pushed it pretty hard today and expect to be pretty sore tomorrow but that’s a price i will pay

day 703 – after class

refuelling after a friday night class filled with heavy dose of physical training. the grandmaster was present first time in ages, therefore instead of showing up to class to get some extra practice and drilling poomsae, i ended up doing endless jumping exercises which i wasn’t intending on doing; especially with my messed up back. what made training harder was not only was it thirty degrees outside, but the dojo has poor ventilation and no air conditioning

day 682 – night training

a friday night devoted to training as usual. nothing that a little, or a lot of bengay cannot do for tightness and soreness to prevent me from training. ended up spending the rest of the night with the planning crew prepping for tomorrow’s meeting. i need to start stretching again after not having done so for a long time and now my flexibility is slowly disappearing. can’t let my flexibility go especially its the final stretch before nationals

day 632 – one on one

one on one session tonight was a productive one because all attention was on me so had to take things more seriously than usual. i was able to fast track and cover the bulk of what i needed to solidify for my upcoming promotion test. all that i was trying to avoid doing had to be done tonight, there was no choice given. there was even time at the end where i had to do a few randomly selected poomsaes and he gave me constructive criticism. this was not the time to half ass because he forced me to restart from the beginning when when it wasn’t up to standard

day 619 – tkd marathon

just got home from friday night training and will be back for saturday morning poomsae training in roughly six hours. i might as well have a sleep over there to get myself more snooze time because i am schedule to train, teach, then train again for a combined ten hours on the mats.i didn’t even bother bringing my uniform and belt home because i will be back in gear in no time

day 590 – spin at river rock

what would i do after friday night training on friday the 13th?? testing out my luck at the casino but it is heart stakingly painful to watch as my stack of chips depletes. i am holding onto my stack of chips and playing it carefully, thinking i make strategic wagers that will win everything back. i didn’t break even but at least i went in with a set amount that i would bet so i knowing i can walk out without breaking my bank

day 583 – pre comp syndrome

at the school the night before competition doing some very last minute cramming. soreness finally easing off and i am finally able to do my full poomsae for the first time in a long time. it might be a little too late because i feel the pre competition crisis taking over. one side of my sidekick is very concerning but i know i need rest so i don’t overdo it. so i will just call it a day and hope that when i wake up tomorrow morning everything will be back to normal
