day 1179 – dumpling master

it’s all about aesthetics this afternoon as i’m perfecting cooking dumplings and making sure it’s cooked to the perfect shade of golden brown. i may be a picky eater, but require nothing fancy nor expensive, just need basic food that’s done the right way. chicken dumplings paired with banana got me through another saturday shift; keeping it simple just like any ordinary saturday

day 1132 – sushi for days

labour day was a lazy laid back day that included sushi for lunch and sushi for dinner. i do love my sushi and japanese food, i can eat sushi for days without getting tired of it. sandwiched in between the meals was a workout, shopping, grocery shopping and some project work. although the nagging back pain was getting worse, i was adamant on continuing with my monday routine. i stuck to lighter weights and still got some decent lifts in. must work harder if i want to eat

day 1051- spicy sashimi

it’s been a while since i last went to sushi california. time to order myself a plateful of spicy salmon and tuna sashimi to satisfy my craving. sushi is one of those things that i can never get tired of; i really could eat japanese food all week long. lunchtime was pretty much the only bright spot of the day. i hate that the dullness from yesterday carries on as i am trying to sort myself out

day 1029 – takoyaki

everyone said that takoyaki is a must once i am in japan. to be honest, i can’t be the judge to compare them to vancouver’s because i don’t normally eat takoyaki anyways. beyond eating and shopping, i also walked a lot around downtown osaka and did some typical tourist things. i can’t walk anymore for my ankles are overworked and a tad swollen

day 978 – carb loading

back in town from a self satisfying trip down portland. first off, post competition breakfast carb loading with my man. competition prep period had its millions of sacrifices and restrictions which made some days painstakingly hard to get through. i haven’t eaten so much in a meal in so long, i forget how bread and potatoes amongst many other things taste like. i’ll give myself a couple days off to indulge in things i couldn’t have had during that phase, but won’t be long before i have to live with those restrictions again in pursuit of my next big event

day 972 – oyster sauce

having a whole broccoli head all to myself because i pigged out too much last couple days. i’ve worked on keeping myself accountable leading up to competition, but the last couple days has been very difficult. all that stress has gotten the better part of me and i find suppressing has been harder and harder. if eating bland is going to get me back on track, then eating bland it is. my eating has gone awry to the point where it’s probably slightly unhealthy

day 898 – meet or meat

today is not just any friday, it’s a fries day lunch date. i am a first timer at this restaurant and lots on their menu sounded really good. i stuck with the mountain burger today, but next time i definitely want to try all their other items. it was a good time with good company, good laughs and good chats. this was a treat meal and a celebratory one for making it through the week, making it past all the stresses, and making it to the deadline even though i had to sleep at 3am to finish. hopefully i get some much needed and deserved sleep tonight
