方大同 – 不容易

he’s one talented artist with a great voice and a list of good songs, but this is one of my favourite from his playlist. it really reinforces and reminds us that what we love and treasure in life is definitely worth striving. nothing in life comes easy, so work your butt off for everything you love and never let go. there’s no price tag for the things you believe in, even when others disagree

resolution series: [five] follow your dreams

imagethere comes a time when self doubts and uncertainties creep into your mind and you wonder if what you are doing is the best thing. unlike math, there is no formula in life that calculates and spits out values or absolute answers of what is the best for you. as long as you do what your heart desires, it is the right thing to do. i feel like the last little while my life has been a roller coaster ride, sometimes soaring sky high and other times simply free falling. recently, i have been in limbo whether i have lost track of what i am doing and if that is still where my interest lies. i don’t want to be endlessly chasing something just because someone said i have to or just doing it for the sake of doing it. been putting a lot of thought into finding all the answers to what i really value, what i want to achieve in life, what i want to be known for, what legacy i want to leave behind and ultimately what path i want to take. i have gotten answers in some aspects, but i still have much to figure out. i understand these money answers will not come overnight because no one will ever have it crystal clear in its entirety and it is something one will take a lifetime to find out. john lennon once said, “everything will be okay. if it’s not okay, it’s not the end.” as long as i am progressing, i will let everything come to me and take it one step at a time, one answer at a time. stay true to yourself and don’t be afraid to follow your heart, follow your dreams. it also happens to be my motto i live by

pat quinn tribute – a hockey legend

there’s tremendous sadness in the world of hockey today as the life of a hockey legend come to an end. pat quinn was an incredible man, player, coach and mentor who contributed so much to the game of hockey and brought so much joy to many fans across the nation. not only was he a key component of many great vancouver canucks moments, he was also a big part of countless nhl and hockey canada moments. everyone who’s worked with in the hockey community respects him so and compliments him with nothing but the highest regards. for me, he will forever be remembered as the man who drafted my idol trevor linden into the system and lead the 94 team into the stanley cup finals. he will be missed but not forgotten because he leaves behind a great legacy. pat quinn said it best, “follow your dreams, listen to your heart, obey your passion”

twenties series: [twelve] childhoodness

the transition of growing up from stage to stage is not an easy one. being a kid was easy but we wouldn’t even realize it at that time. during the first decade, there’s no need to stress, no need to worry and every day passed by like it was the best day of our lives. went to school, played with friends, had some extracurricular activities and went home happy and carefree. stepping into the second decade was a tougher because we realize there are added responsibilities and the acknowledgement of what stress is. school gets busier, homework increases, extracurricular activities piles on, not to mention drama will occur, relationships becomes unclear and the need to start thinking about career path. entering the third decade of the life, formally known as adulthood, is the toughest yet. school gets tougher, every exam and paper is like a do or die situation, extracurricular activities continues, love life has its ups and downs, and you feel like your career is trapped in fog and there’s no turning back. there are those moments when nothing is going right, everything happens out of the unexpected and everyone seems to be against you and you think long and hard and question whether you made the right decisions five years ago. i now understand why people will occasionally go in the quarter life crisis. i don’t know what is in store for me the rest of this decade and the next ones to come, but i am set to make take the positives out of situations and make it the best possible experience

twenties series: [three] path

not everyone has the same strengths and weaknesses. everyone is born with certain gifts, talents and aspirations that will lead them down their own path. just following the a crowd and taking what is deemed a safe route isn’t going to get me anywhere in life. life is all about finding myself and understanding who i really am. that’s what makes me, me. just because i am not taking the same path as my buddies, doesn’t mean that they are not readily available to support me every step of the way. there may be lots of darkness, obstacles and uncertainties but at the end of every tunnel is light that leads to bigger and better things. getting past a stumble or struggle makes all achievements me more appreciative of the success. the decision is mine as to whether i want to go down the easy path and end up doing something i have little interest  in or the less traveled path that will allow me do the things in my realm of interest. all i have to do is accept the challenges and persevere then i am confident i will reach my destination. at the end of the day, i want to feel good taking this path and doing what i do. afterall what comes easy won’t last, what lasts won’t come easy. never divert your path in life due to others opinions

day 108 – don’t let my mind go astray

image

after shutting the world out of my life for twelve hours, thinking long and hard about my many misfortunes. i have no answer for all the things i cannot control, but i have come to conclusion that i will only work harder to achieve what i thought i never could and push beyond my limits. afterall, i would not be me if i had given up so easily
