day 1374 – flight home

flying out of the nevada desert and going back home where my good old bed awaits. i take with me a lot of valuable and imperative experience that was gained attending this tradeshow. not only did i learn about the industry, i also learned a lot about my coworkers, manager and even the big boss. it was a tiring trip being on my feet all day and all night. i’m ready to head back to vancity where i can chill with mo. i’m not homesick, but that’s enough flying for the month

solo series [day eight]

image

today is mainly a transit day with bus rides and plane rides. on my way to japan, but first, a short layover in taiwan. i managed to squeeze in short face time chats at the airport. i landed in osaka slightly past 7:30pm and didn’t get to my b&b until well past 9:30pm so my japan adventures will begin tomorrow

this concludes the hong kong portion of my trip. i had an enjoyable time getting to see all the family in my birth place. i can’t complain about the scheduling because i was able to fit in all the friends i wanted to catch up with. it’s always hard to say goodbye, especially to my ageing grandmas. although i don’t get to physically spend time with my grandparents, we do make frequent calls to keep in touch

i had one of those emotional day last night where i wasn’t quite my composed self. i really shouldn’t have mentioned it to mo because it makes no sense for him to worry about me halfway across the globe. i think i gave him a scare but i’m much more relieved and lighter after talking it over with mo

day 1028 – japan bound

my seven days of hong kong came to an end as i am off to japan for five. time flew by so quickly, i had a good time in hong kong but now i’m going to turn my attention to japan. i missed seeing mo on my screen the past couple days but we finally got a chance to face time while i was at the airport. it’ll be a little challenging with the video chats because japan is an extra hour ahead, but i am sure we’ll figure it out

solo series [day two]

after a thirteen hour flight, i have safely landed at hong kong airport. during the long flight, i napped, ate, wrote and watched movies; i only got up twice to use the washroom. my back and legs are extremely stiff and i seriously couldn’t help but to miss the gym already

my parents flew in earlier last week. however, i was a surprise visitor; no one knew i was going to make an appearance. when i rang my grandma’s doorbell, she was so stunned she was at a loss of words. she reminds me i haven’t been back to visit since 2013? i am always amazed at her memory; hard to imagine a ninety year old has a better memory than me. thankfully it’s not as hot as i expected it to be for this time of the year, but i heard it was pretty hot and humid a few days ago

of course gym is not the only thing i miss back in vancouver. i already miss mo dearly. i always glance at my watch wondering how he’s doing and what he is up to. i hope he’s working hard back home and catching up with people he hasn’t seen for a while

although i slept on the plane, going through so many flights and the troubles of getting on and off them has been taxing. i really wanted to wait until mo was awake before i head to bed but my head and eyes were hurting. it was time to call it a day

solo series [day one]

i am excited to be heading home to hong kong to see my relatives and visiting japan for the first time. it’s a long overdue trip as it’s been three years since i last visited hong kong and my extended family. my parents decided to keep my appearance a top secret. i’m curious to see how my relatives react upon my arrival. now that nationals is over, i will definitely cut back on competition training and turn my attention to other trainings. but before i dive back into training, i need some time off because it’s been a while since i last had a real vacation. i’ll also take this opportunity to recuperate from the recent stresses of life. only then will i come back recharged and ready to make some tough decisions and big changes

for the next twelve days that mo and i will be apart on different continents, i will writing my “solo series” to keep everyone back home in the loop with what’s happening in and around my life. stay tuned and be ready for my journal of adventures

day 1021 – yvr much

image

i am very happy mo was able to send me off at the airport today, but saying goodbye was super difficult. it was much harder than the last because instead of leaving for three days, i will be without him for twelve days. it was brief stay in vancouver between calgary and hong kong, but we made every day count. the next twelve days will feel so different without his presence. we are separated by many time zones, but we’ll still do our best to have our video chats. i always look forward to reading his messages and seeing his selfies

day 802 – yvr sendoff

send off saturday at yvr where my┬áparents going on yet another vacation, their annual hong kong trip. so happy for them to be on vacation again, they work hard and deserve to enjoy life. i will have to wait patiently for my turn to travel, but i am already looking and planning out next year’s vacations. with my parents out of town means unlimited freedom for the next two weeks, which also means my already crazy schedule just gets a tad crazier. already have my entire schedule crammed with lots of things and only shortage of time to fit everything in. let’s make this a good two weeks stretch
