day 2215 – sidekick break

did a high sidekick breaking just for fun. not bad for someone who hardly stretches and doesn’t put in the time to practice breaking anymore. probably haven’t kicked a board for real since my last test over four years ago. i need to do some last minute cramming for the boards that i’m about to break in a matter of days. i’m pressing for that x-out and hoping it is ready by then. aside from stick-knife and stick-stick self defense, i should probably review and shake off the rust for all the step sparring, self defense and poomsae

it’s finally come time for my turn to watch cirque du soleil toruk – the first flight. looking forward to this because cirque is doing a vancouver tour once again. the coliseum was fullhouse today, even lining up for the washroom took nearly the entire twenty minute intermission. watching those nimble acrobats move so swiftly makes me feel like i need to get on the flexibility and mobility again and also up my ninja game

day 775 – inflexibility

it’s that time of the month again, or the start of another training season that begins really soon. stretching for real for the first time for what must have been at least seven weeks to see how much flexibility i have lost. man, it’s not a good sign when my legs and joints are feeling this tight. it won’t be fun but i guess that’s what i pay for with my laziness and procrastination. one way or another, i will need to regain the flexibility back in a matter of days. the sporadic laziness during the so called offseason really doesn’t make my life any easier

day 691 – training alone

my alone time away from the distractions of everyone else. i like training alone cause that’s when i can usually get my best work done. but that’s also what gets me in trouble cause i always need someone to tell me not to slack off when i get distracted or watch over me to tell me what exactly is wrong and lacking. my knee is still so busted but seems like it will get little help until it is all said and done. competition day getting real close so i am feeling stressed out waiting for the poomsae draw to be posted

day 682 – night training

a friday night devoted to training as usual. nothing that a little, or a lot of bengay cannot do for tightness and soreness to prevent me from training. ended up spending the rest of the night with the planning crew prepping for tomorrow’s meeting. i need to start stretching again after not having done so for a long time and now my flexibility is slowly disappearing. can’t let my flexibility go especially its the final stretch before nationals

day 637 – photoshoot

practicing posing, sidekick and front snap kicks are amongst the many things i did tonight. playing around with some ultra expensive toys and lens that easily surpasses the triple digit mark. we were just having some fun casually kicking around and playing with lighting and angles. it was a night where i can set aside the pressures of preparing for competition, but must be extra careful not to overkill my legs and groin. the camera setup was super ghetto based on the resources we were given. i guess that’s what makes the photoshoot even more amazing

day 628 – and so it begins

just as i had imagined, competition training gets real immediately after the completion of sun run. despite my body feeling good after the race, something tells me my groin is unhappy since it popped a total of eighteen times today – yes i was counting. i’ll let me physio take care of my groin and whatever other problems that may have arised from running that fundraiser. but the training plan doesn’t change, so here i am starting off with some much needed stretching because four weeks of minimal stretching and laziness has caused my splits to diminish
