day 2278 – back handspring

i’m very happy to have ended my dry spell by landing my back handspring on floor after class. this is a move i wanted a while back but was told to hold off until my back tuck was consistent. drilling it the past weeks while staying patient with my bounding moves has really paid off. although it’s been feeling good the past week and getting spotted floor attempts, i couldn’t get myself to floor it by myself. good thing i was pushed to just do it today and landed a decent one on my first attempt. aside from my back handspring, i’ve been feeling pretty good with a few other moves

day 2060 – floor tucks

i’m beyond stoked that i just landed my first ever back tuck on unsprung floor. with the successful reps i had this week, i was encouraged to try it on taekwondo mats. i stretched and warmed up on four separate occasions but stopped short and almost wanted to back out because i felt pressured when there were too many students and parents around. i waited until the last hour of teaching before i decided it’s now or never. i committed to the tuck with everything i got, and to my amazement, i landed on my feet. i did it a second time because i couldn’t believe it. every part of me was shaking well after, but all i felt was the craziness of succeeding on something i’ve been longing for

day 2016 – spotted progress

a really happy moment tonight when i went for it and did a some spotted roundoff backtuck from the floor to blue. since my roundoff snap down was feeling pretty strong during overtime practice, i asked to go for it. i then went on to do one last one, unspotted. i didn’t land it, but i was told it was the biggest step because i just diminished a lot of the fear and uncertainty that it came with. i’ll be the first to say it was scary, but unlike all the previous times i tried something for the first time, i didn’t allow myself to overthink and just went hard. just good to see another progression towards what i’ve always wanted

day 1623 – fully discharged

i’ve waited long and hard, to hear surgeon’s very words, i will discharge you from my hand clinic, congratulations. that was further confirmed at my physio appointment who also said i’m cleared for sports with no restrictions barring any pain. on top of that, he who rarely compliments me did so for i maintained my alignment since he last adjusted me. the usual hardwork with the kinesiologist who not only worked me hard on the rehab exercises, but also gave me extras stuff i never even thought was possible out of me. he’s one of the biggest reason i’ve improved so much through the years and i’m gratified he’s given me all these challenges. the back to back appointments couldn’t have tasted any sweeter as i left both clinics beyond elated to hear that i came out triumphant. i will be able to sleep well tonight

day 1620 – game ready

first game back in league action after a three month haul of rehabbing and a lot of waiting. it was a painful process that i never want to go through again but i’m glad it’s behind me now. i’ve long for this day to come and i’ll admit i had butterflies leading up to arriving at the rink. stepping on the ice for my first shift was a little strange and that comes with no surprise. the calibration process didn’t take long; i felt much better and adjusted even on my second shift. perhaps getting the adrenaline going and focusing on the game itself got my legs back under me. it feels so awesome to be officially back in game action and no signs of ill-effects coming from my hand. the happiness that’s running through my body well after the game will probably keep me up, but i have a good reason to smile and points to show for

day 1596 – get happy

wake up and be happy that i’m making a difference in someone’s day. happy moment when i feel like i got a lot done and got a shoutout during the admin meeting. as usual i got home pretty late but pretty happy that the day went well and that although there’s a lot of deadlines, everything went smoothly. with christmas just a dozen days away, each day is getting more precious and more booked up by the minute

day 1569 Рmillennial

it can’t get much more rewarding when my senior and manager congratulates me on a job well done. the meeting was a success as i presented my new collection to other department managers. putting together the design, renderings and shop drawings of my new collection was a lot of work, but what took place today is more than enough to justify. the meeting outcome was good, but it’s the process that is more important and i have my team to thank. feeling convinced i’ve earned some time to let myself loose
