day 2028 – snatch techniques

it’s a jam packed statutory holiday that started with olympic lifting session, followed by work, then tutor and finished off coaching poomsae training. snatching with lower weights to focus on technique. i must say my snatches felt real good today, as did my shoulder. as for front squats, upped the weight for the fourth consecutive week and it felt super heavy. still felt good to have moved up and closer to bodyweight. lifting session was fun, however, when i was at work and tutor i started to feel something was coming on. towards the end of the day, i feel as if i had caught a cold

day 1658 – plant for a day

it’s a statutory holiday but here i am putting in work and getting dusty in the icon plant because they need it. it was labour intensive work with lots of loading, lifting, carrying and cutting. though i have no intention to work in a plant, i acquired new skills such as routering, edge banding, spraying, laminating and cnc-ing; all these will help me do and understand my job better. in the end i even cut and assembled a foot stool for my own desk. it was loud with all the machines and fans running, appreciation for the plant workers who can withstand eight hours of this noise

day 922 – cognitive stimulant

found today’s morning session a tough one and it wasn’t even physically demanding at all. i dragged my sleepy butt out the door but i was just not mentally there to perform. i found myself being a whiner more than a doer and that’s not what i should be doing. my mind and body would’ve put caffeine to good use if only i made a pit stop. after my energy level went back to functional nornalities, i made up for the lacklustre morning session with an afternoon one

day 558 – whistler we go

my first time hitting the slopes this season came very late but i wasn’t about to let a winter season go by without having skied. spending family day up on the mountain and the whistler conditions provided nothing short of excitement. found the blue runs of blackcomb most enjoyable, snow falling at the the top with fresh powder made it best. lots of skiing done and tons of fun to be had, my legs were dead tired by the end. i am still recovering from a cold and bad cough but glad i didn’t have to change my plans and call it off. sometimes i forget how much i enjoy the thrills of carving through the snow, it gives me the sense tranquility and i find myself in calmness yet mixed with rushing adrenaline

day 312 – new shades

a rare sunday afternoon off so i had a chance to squeeze in some shopping. feeling really excited because i finally found a pair of shades i have been wanting for a while. also bought a few more items and spent more than i really should. my wallet probably doesn’t appreciate that burden and would much rather i be at work. just be happy that i don’t get to go all out shopping everyday

day 194 – long weekend special

pigging out at aberdeen food court in between our own training session and teaching session. tried the oreo ice cream smoothie for the first time and it tasted really good but it was so filling i didn’t even need the wonton noodles. bad news is after stuffing my face, it is time to teach poomsae training
