day 695 – old quebec

image

tough day of competition with some slippage and certainly disappointment. hit me harder than anyone can imagine but it’s a wake up call and learning experience. i have some thinking, regrouping and re-prioritizing to do when i get back, but i will come back strong. in the meantime, going into old quebec late at night with the purpose of sightseeing. the area is pretty neat with some resemblance of vancity gastown and yaletown. turns out we stopped by mcdonalds just to try the mclobster and some mcflurries. would be nice to come back during the day time if time permits

day 694 – asian invasion

image

after taking care of the competition side of things with id pickup and weigh ins, the rest of the day was spent driving around town. montreal’s chinatown was very impressive, it was very clean with many eating options and street vendors that almost reminded me of china. we made our way to chinatown to satisfy our ramen and bubble tea craving. a red eye flight made me so tired, i was dozing off in the car starting mid day. calling it an early night cause it felt like i haven’t slept for two days

resolution series: [twentyseven] tour

those of the previous generations often say travel when you are young because you have the freedom of time and the luxury of energy to do so. but incoveniently, it is also the time when you haven’t got your money issues all figured out so every penny counts. but once u get past the livelihood stage, it’s time to settle down and form a family. the increased responsibilities will in turn make you feel tied down, not to mention increased expenses of all your dependents. and then when you wait another two decades to establish yourself in the work force, you haven’t got the energy to do the traveling you have always imagined. my conclusion is there’s no best time to travel because there’s give and takes at every stage in life, all you can is follow your gut feeling and travel when your heart desires. can’t say i have been to many places, but can’t say that i haven’t been to many places either. i have definitely been well travelled within north america, but have not set foot in europe or south america. there is so many fascinating cities waiting for me, i have to go out there and see the world for myself. i could definitely use some time off now because i am currently physically, mentally and psychologically drained and stressed out in every dimension

twenties series: [one] travel

the world is very big with many fascinating places full of opportunities to explore and see the big picture so to speak. traveling will not only broaden our horizon but also increase our knowledge on what is out there beyond our naked eye. these adventures allow us to distant ourselves from our regular everyday life and infinite stress at hand. traveling also creates meaningful and lifelong memories that no one else can strip us of. the time away from all the norm is a test and a telling story of what you have taken granted for all along; afterall, there is no place like home. traveling is not by all means easy on the bank account as it is a big commitment that requires plenty of planning but there is no reward without hard work. i for one haven’t gotten the opportunity to make the most out of my travels. there’s a whole list of cities and places i would love to visit and i will be making a conscious effort to traveling to wherever my heart desires. regardless of small trips, big trips and road trips ranging from europe, asia or even a simple drive to seattle, its an investment i want to make. remember life stops at nothing so travel while you can, go out and see the world

day 289 – nationals apparel

image
sporting toronto nationals swag as proof that i was here. tomorrow is the big day, regardless of whatever happens on stage, i am guaranteed to have a souvenir to remember my time and experience at nationals 2014. feeling unprepared for the biggest stage of my life but the show must go on. and after that, we can finally relax and enjoy our stay in the big city

day 288 – t dot

image

paying cn tower and rogers centre a visit at night time because it just would not feel like a complete toronto trip without having this iconic picture somewhere. wish i had the time to catch a live bluejays game and it’s a pity the raptors got eliminated early in post season before i got a chance to watch an nba playoff game. it was a disappointing post season especially when they had such a good run in regular season

day 286 – eaton centre

image

window shopping inside eaton centre after going for id pickup and weigh in before heading to joeys to satisfy our hunger. lots to see and lots to do in toronto downtown, but we’re all so tired. it’s been a long day after a red eye flight, the plan is to pass out early be prepared to train tomorrow
