day 2138 – flight home

after eighteen days surviving four countries and nine hundred and sixty seven photos taken, i’m really glad to be taking my final flight home. waiting for my seven hour flight to head back to vancity where my parents, friends and fun awaits. having long vacations like this makes me homesick. i can’t wait to see my family, friends and teammates, and do my everyday things like flip, hockey, gym and chill. i’m super exhausted from dealing with the selfishness and glad to be spending time with those that i’d call friends

day 2138 – iceland stint

second stint in iceland after touring all the europe cities. this time within the twenty six hour layover, i drove nearly five hours to complete the golden circle check points. i was fortunate to catch one of the geyser’s eruption on camera. also saw a a few waterfalls and craters. i’m tired after an overnight bus from paris to london and a flight from london to iceland. i was definitely looking forward to the late instant noodles dinner back at the airbnb

day 2137 – paris local

fifth and last day in paris, and i’m turning into a local. though i didn’t get a chance to bike to the roland garros stadium, i’ll still be happy i finally got a chance to bike in europe. it was rather scary biking on the road, let alone bike along side parisian drivers that know no rules or etiquette. as the boys and i were biking, we witnessed very intense road rage that saw a man get bumped by a car and proceeded by zooming off. it was an interesting experience using the paris velib because we were scurrying to find a docking station every so often so not to get extra charges. nevertheless, we finished our route and came out alive

day 2136 – arc du triomphe

visiting one of my top paris attraction arc du triomphe. the intersection it stands on is crazy; twelve different routes merging into the roundabout. by now, i have grasped the concept of paris driving – drive aggressively and use all methods to get around obstructions. as i stood before the arc daringly close to the traffic, i never imagined it would tower over me like so. decided not to buy tickets to go up and that was the correct choice because the lineup to the lift is long. i think the point is to view the actual structure and not to look down on the surrounding things from the top

day 2135 – champs elysees

today was dedicated shopping day walking down both rue du rivoli and champs elysees. i didn’t buy any designer handbags but i did buy a pair of shoes and some t-shirts. i’m so glad the weather cooperated today since it was all outdoor walking. i guess i shouldn’t be buying much since this trip itself is already costing quite a bit. also, the longer i’ve been away and the more frustrated i am with how some things are dealt with. i’d cut the trip short if i had that option

day 2134 – musee louvre

another day in paris and it was a museum-filled day. the morning was reserved at louvre walking around the exhibition for a couple hours. my favourite was the french paintings mainly because it brings back so much memories of when i studied their art history. the afternoon was spent at the centre du pompidou. it wasn’t as interesting as it was promoted. the said views from up top wasn’t good either because of the muggy weather and i got rained on pretty hard since i didn’t even have a hood

day 2133 – versailles palace

this place is so beautiful no wonder it’s a hot topic for all tourists. it was a huge palace full of historical paintings, monumental ceiling murals, fancy decor surrounded by a vast garden. i read online to go early to avoid line up outside and it was right – this was the crowd first thing in the morning. it was a hot day and the train ride was a brutal forty minutes there and back with a jam packed cargo and no ventilation
