day 1296 – buildex

being in that area of downtown brings back some not so good memories, but i had to be to attend a buildex lecture. all i can say is it was an interesting experience. i didn’t have much energy throughout the whole day and felt a big drop during the time between work and dodgeball. the banana seemed to help pick it up during dodgeball and i still had a great time playing with fellow gstrings

day 1266 – give back event

image

the office looked like costco because this is what we’ll use to make five hundred sandwiches for our quarterly give back to community event. it’s strictly voluntarily, but most of the staff volunteered their time to put sandwiches together; some will hand them out to the less fortunate in the downtown eastside area. it’s also a good team bonding event with all hands on deck

day 1247 – robson square

image

i can describe robson square outdoor ice rink as a massive crowd of people that falls into two categories: those who can’t skate or skates well but causes havoc. the ice condition was horrible by the time we arrived, good thing we brought our own skates because rentals would not be worth it. i wonder when the zamboni gets a chance to pave the ice. we had a short skate before heading out to check out the new sportchek across the street

day 1234 – hat worthy

image

adding another star to my name after tonight’s game. had good ice time and fought hard for that hat. i’ll be first to admit i wasn’t fully ready for tonight’s game after eating at gyu kaku with fellow rdl execs, but still got it done. this meeting is more of a celebratory dinner to appreciate everyone’s effort, carrying their own weight and make it another smooth season. it got wild in a hurry when we realized we ordered too much drinks and had to chug the rest down. i was on my best behaviour for the better part considering the amount of food presented in front of me, but even then the amount put into my stomach makes me feel way too fat

solo series [day nine]

image

i had a full seven hours of undisrupted sleep which is by far the best night of sleep since i left vancouver. i like the b&b i am staying at; it’s a well equipped space with clean shower, butt washing heated toilet seats, big bed and a simple kitchen

after we figured out how to take the train, my parents and i were out and about in osaka. we started off at namba shopping streets where we bought a bunch of goods. i had my chance to try the famous japanese takoyaki, which i thought was okay. after lunch, we went straight for downtown area, umeda, to hit some sightseeing points which included malls and department stores

after all the steps taken throughout the day, i couldn’t walk anymore so i opted to stay back while my parents went out for dinner. i need to stay off my feet if i want to have a chance to walk and sightsee tomorrow. instead of going out for dinner, i was able to fit in a mini circuit which made me feel better

three more full days in japan before i head home. i know i should focus on japan first and worry about other things later but that doesn’t stop me from thinking of all the plans i have waiting for me once i get back

day 1018 – touring calgary

image

after our run at this year’s nationals, we are wandering the streets of downtown calgary. we saw snow and rain in the first three days in calgary, but glad our fourth day was a warm and sunny one. this trip was been leg intensive as if we didn’t spend enough time walking and standing on our feet at the championship, we decided to do more of that. spark science centre, calgary tower, chinatown, stephens avenue and the core shopping mall were amongst the many places we visited. it was a good trip with teambonding time, but we’re all burnt out. i was ready to head home to see mo, but it won’t be long before i fly off again

day 1002 – revisiting jericho

image

by the water hoping i won’t be feeding the flies and mosquitoes. jericho brings back a lot of memories from the studio term that i spent doing a beach redevelopment project. but tonight, my job was to forget about all that and be one with the calmness. times when we can stand ashore to look out across and get a good view of downtown vancouver. i’ll definitely want to be back here again when summer really hits
