day 2289 – wu’s stripes

picked up the wu’s four striped black belt from the main school along with my students’. one more belt to add to my collection and keep it going. i’m proud of my fourth degree, but i’m more proud of the three first degrees i’ve trained and nurtured from the very beginning of their white belt journey. they’ve all worked very hard to earn their first stripe. i hope to get them more stripes and get more students to earn theirs

day 1726 – sun run fun

it was a gutsy decision to continue with the run, but i’m stubborn that way. i’m glad i put my third sun run in the books with my best run time yet. the near one hour mark was good for second with my company, only to be ousted by a forty-two minute avid runner. couldn’t have asked for a better weather as it was perfect when i began to rack up my steps. running with someone makes me stay motivated to continue pushing forward. no recovery time allowed since i had to work a belt test hours later covering the ten kilometres. now it’s time to hit up my physio so he can fix my knees and get it back to being functional

day 1127 – post rolling

wrapping up august with a satisfying workout and some intense rolling. the month has flown by so fast and today’s weather tells me summer season won’t last. reflecting on the month, i have made plenty of progress both physically and mentally, and in turn grown as a person. i have a lot to be thankful for, those who didn’t give up on me. i found that if i put my mind to something, i surprise myself and don’t always lose to my own expectations. the self realizations doesn’t end here, it’s only the beginning. stay tuned for the months to come on my journey to finding myself

day 1048 – hitting numbers

now that taekwondo competition season is slowed comes other focuses. i am exhausted from the season grind where competition is on my mind twenty four seven. taekwondo training won’t stop; it will take a backseat to other trainings. it’s difficult to make extensive development during the season when i must taper off before every event. now i can devote more time and effort into training while picking up several new things. what i did tonight exceeded my own expectations; it was a night of hitting numbers i always wanted but never attempted. i just need to keep working on it to up my game

day 937 – pistol unlocked

quads were feeling so jelly i could’ve sworn i wouldn’t be able to do any physio exercises this morning. kin being his own self, urged me to get things done. he, who introduced pistols in my life, has been egging me on to get it down for the past year. my dominant side got it within the first month but severe imbalances made my weak side impossible. kin demanded it again today and i hastily tried, not expecting to come close just like my past nine hundred failed attempts. lo and behold, i went all the way down and all the way up and before i knew it, i had just completed my first ever pistol squat on what i call my broken left. this is a significant milestone because it’s something i’ve been working towards for so long. it’s truly a testament to prove that hardwork, belief and determination really does pay off. thank you for pushing me and never settling for less

day 918 – officially landed

words cannot justify or describe how i am feeling right now. today is a good day; no, today is a great day full of surprises and accomplishments i have yet to soak in. i went to the gym for some cardio even though i thought it was a terrible idea to go before tumbling. not knowing how long i would last, i was set on stopping when i felt tired. that was negligible because i went through the entire duration like never before. hours after that, i made my floor to floor goal a reality. i knew i have been close for a while and i knew i had all the pieces but each time i would be missing a piece or two. until today, i had all my pieces working and officially landed it. that to me, is the biggest hurdle i had to overcome and the first step to building much more

day 901 – plyo power

i knew what i was in for the moment i stepped into the gym today. it was all about drilling and drilling plyos because that’s what i wanted so that’s exactly what i got. the buckets of sweat from today said it all. it’s a very fulfilling and satisfying session cause i felt like i gave it my all and made every rep count. there was no holding back nor conserving energy for next sets on this day. this should be my hardest working session yet where all breaks received were hard earned
