day 1691 – she-unit

showing up in plain white beaters and snapbacks for another year of kings and queens tournament. the tournament competition level was very high as always and although we didn’t make it far into the elimination rounds, it’s always good to be with the gang. good thing my chiropractor was on site to do some heavy taping on my shoulder so i could hold it down enough to play. i must say it was weird playing in white beaters and i don’t think i’ll consider that again

day 1654 – queen’s tourney

looking at some old photos of when we last played queen’s tournament, and now we’re looking ahead to this year’s. frankly, i haven’t played since september and i can’t tell if i’m missing the sport or missing my friends. it’ll be a real test for that thumb of mine come next week when i step back into the court to field balls. i’m not sure how i feel but i’m sure that’s not relevant. honestly i don’t know how my physio hand specialist feels about that, but making my comeback is bound to happen

day 1520 – growlers

i had no handle on what damages could happen today, but i have three appointments lined up. honestly think i make terrible decisions but i really wanted to play dodgeball after sitting out for an extra ten days. it’s taped up to the point where almost no skin on my hand is visible, yet it still hurts to grip the ball, catch the ball, throw the ball. i came out not thrilled expecting more, but at least playing today didn’t make it much worse

day 1510 – hand pain

it’s back to square one. after my making my first catch of the dodgeball night, my hand was in excruciating pain and could no longer grip a ball properly. being me, i thought that if i taped it would allow me to play; if i taped more i could continue; and if i tape enough to make it immobile, i could finish the night. i finished the night, but once the last game was over, i realized i no longer have a functional hand. it does open nor close, it doesn’t hold a fork, nor a steering wheel; it basically doesn’t function for my basic needs

day 1398 – getting sweaty

normally i don’t sweat much, but the way my shirt was drenched sure made it look like i played hard tonight. my ribs are becoming more stable, but still have to play conservatively until chiro gives me the okay to play without limitations. my team played better than what the stat sheet showed; i had a decent night with nine kills and five catches despite trying to play cautiously. hard to believe a thunderstorm is expected to spur tomorrow when the weather was so nice out all of last week

day 1376 – our birthdays

this sunday was all about gstring playoffs, taekwondo and birthday dinner. a really bad fall gave me a scare because a rib out caused breathing and talking troubles. my chiropractor did not want me to continue playing, but being me and being playoffs, that wasn’t going to happen. thinking back, i made a reckless decision but it was something i would have risked for my team. it would have been nice to take both spirit owl and tier champ but kudos for making it to finals. our birthday celebration finally happened because i’ve had a crazy busy all of last week. fine dining at the apron with korean spicy wings, salmon with quinoa and seafood linguine

day 1363 – robot war

nine dodgeless days is over as robot war strikes. a simple game of dodgeball with player stat tracking to spark trade talks. the few twists to the rules but i’m ready to contribute to team doraemon. day three of liquid diet consisted of three slices of toasts and one banana; i’m surprised i still had energy in the tank to play. these restrictions suck and i would experience spurts of dizziness throughout the day
