day 2309 – mri results

i think shocked wouldn’t even be the correct term to describe myself after finding out the mri results. i’m pretty shaken that my ankle ligament is completely torn. it didn’t really hit me on the spot, but as the day went on and i digested this news, i’m feeling pretty discouraged and utmost concerned. it strikes me that i will forever not have this ligament and it will never heal itself. if not treated, i will have no chance of being able to do all that i love doing – my sports career will be changed and limited forever. i had some chats with doctors and friends, hoping to get their thoughts and views on it because i clearly couldn’t keep my head above water

day 2281 – general practitioner

my family doctor never seems to fail at disappointing me. i went into her office for one reason – to get either an xray or mri referral. i didn’t get either of the said referrals. instead, i got a prescribed topical cream. this blows my mind that one needs to go through medical school to be able to tell me topical cream will be the best relief she can provide. remind me to never go to her unless i want to get disappointed

day 2279 – foot issue

everything seemed fine during training and i even landed my handspring on floor midway through. two hours after the fact, my foot started having shooting pain. i’m beyond puzzled why my foot is in so much pain that i ended up at the emergency. the area below my ankle had a big hard bump that i described as bone-like. i went through the standard protocol and took xrays, left the hospital with the doctor diagnosing it as an achilles tendonitis. i had a chiro and physio take a look and both think it’s much more than that. i could no longer weight bear and had to resort to crutches to get around

day 2195 – walk in clinic

as much as i didn’t want to go back to work after a long weekend, i was less happy to be spending three and a half hours at a walk in clinic waiting for both the doctor and pharmacy. the mosquito bite flared up so bad overnight i didn’t get any sleep. i got up in the middle of the night to apply and reapply the hydrocortisone. when i woke up, my leg was so red and swelled up it no longer looked like a leg. the doctor prescribed the same antibiotics as last time. i guess that’s what i get for not finishing it last time

day 2185 – hydrocortisone

the mosquito bite from yesterday got so out of hand that i couldn’t concentrate on anything. nurse friend said i may have cellulitis and should see a doctor at emergency, but instead i rushed to walmart and settled for some topical cream with hydrocortisone. i even pulled out of hockey last minute because it was burning hot. i felt horrible for staying in on such short notice especially when it’s the start of playoffs for civil war

day 2107 – swollen infection

when i look down at my ankle, it’s safe to say there’s something really wrong with it. i got myself into my chiropractor because i thought my ankle was locked, jammed or sprained of some sort, turns out i needed to go to hospital more. the size of my ankle is twice the size of my normal and there’s random bruising on my ankle bone not to mention it’s burning inside. he suggested there’s an infection and get it checked out as soon. me being me, i checked the emergency wait times and declined. i wasn’t going to spend six hours at the hospital, but booked in to see my family doctor tomorrow morning

day 2091 – ultrasound visit

my ultrasound appointment took way too long for what it was worth. the lady helping me didn’t give any instructions throughout, then took a long time checking the report before re-entering the room and didn’t bother giving me any explanation or answers as she sends me off. i was so unimpressed i just went straight home instead of joining fellow g-string at eastside craft house. i expected a little more than what i got, but maybe i expected too much out of these high paid technicians
