day 1933 – dim some

landed in hong kong and why was i not shocked to be greeted by relatives with some dimsum. it’s great to see my relatives, but when they take charge of ordering, it always seem to have too much food on the table. either they think we don’t have adequate dimsum in vancouver or we eat a lot, which neither is the case. i must have some portion control during this week bombarded with family meals. i sure hope i don’t go overweight by the time this asia trip is over

day 1671 – dimsuming

i don’t recall the last time i ate dimsum, but it’s  safe to say i can now eat them guilt free. my love for malaysian cake, ha gao and rice rolls never changed. switching up the diet has its perks for reasons i can enjoy food with variety. since the switch, my appetite has improved significantly, or maybe it’s just a result of improvement in my overall state of mind. either way, the trend is heading in the right place in multiple aspects of my life

day 480 – what happened??

image

waking up next morning to find photos on our phones of all the weird things we actually did and awkward messages we sent. all evidence shows that we must have had the time of our lives. all i remembered was we enjoyed ourselves last night with a little act of violence and some of us went to the washroom too many times. the last thing i recalled was playing drunken twister and falling to the ground my head getting sat on. it’s one of those times you wished social media wasn’t so accessible. not sure at which point i fell asleep but we woke up in the morning seeing the chaos and feeling like zombies, but nothing will stop us from going for some recovery dimsum

day 439 – thanksgiving dimsum

the only time i get to have dimsum with my family is mostly during statutory holidays, which happens no more than once a month. thanksgiving isn’t about eating turkey, it means i sit down and enjoy a decent meal with important people in my life that support and shape me in addition be appreciative of all that i am given because there’s less fortunate people out there

day 136 – famjam dimsum

enjoying dimsum with family on a saturday afternoon is an aspect i have missed out on all these years. if it wasn’t spent going to chinese school, it was math, kumon, work, or taekwondo. don’t remember when was the last time i was able to sit down and do just that, it’s truly a luxury. i haven’t done a good job making time for my family as of late, time to get my priorities right
