mostly been a winger for squirtle all season, but getting my time at defense tonight. i much enjoy that our team can be in the same locker room as opposed to separating it be gender. we lost by a margin, but i still had fun. honestly my ankle is struggling when in that skate. the ganglion on the medial side is only getting worse and really bothers me especially in the second half of the game. i’m not sure what i need to do and how to address this issue. what will it take to continue playing this sport?
defense duties today was fun because my defense partner mentioned i have the green light to pinch at my own risk. i did just that and took advantage especially when the opposing weaker forward was on the ice. i didn’t make any defensive mistakes and even i came so close to potting one in the net. we still won 3-2 to continue the squirtle win streak. i wish i could say the same for nachos
this team of white girls was not only huge, they were also fiesty. thankful no injuries resulted from any of the rough plays. i got an elbow to the head, shoved away in front of my own net and countless chops to the stick. i laid out a big hit, unfortunately it was to my own teammate when we were both rushing towards the puck at the blue line. we drew first blood but they tied it in the third. luckily it ended in a tie game even after a frantic overtime
we had a rough start with some jersey cafluffle, but nacho friends season opener turned out to be really fun. because we’re a brand new team still trying figure so much out, it took us two periods to get on the scoreboard. i had a rough first period trying to get my legs underneath me and it didn’t help that i dove to block a puck and ended up feeling like my airway was obstructed. you’d think i learned my lesson, but i dove again in the third period to keep the puck on side which ended up to be the first assist of two. we lost 3-2 but it was a fun and tame game
left my jersey in the wash, but at least i found a shirt to wear. first time i’m fielding on the right side of the diamond at third base. i was ready to take some balls off the body because the ball really kicks up after a bouncing on gravel. ended the night with only two bruises, one on the bicep and one on the stomach. i haven’t figured out how to take high balls off the backhand but i did made some pretty good stops and threw out two runners at first base. the team played really well defensively considering we were playing opponents a tier above
i shouldn’t be playing with two messed up ankles, but here i am trying to put on my skates. we fought our way through back into the finals so there’s little stopping me from suiting up. we played a sound defensive game throughout before breaking the game open in the second half of the game and won 4-1. we’re taking huskies to the grand finals so we’ll get to duke it out on again on sunday
post game team dinner after a game we lost with minutes left in the game. the team played sound defensively, and i felt i had a solid game as a defense. first time having a penalty called against me, an interference penalty when i laid a hip check on one of the wingers. i had a lot of fun playing this game, much of it had to do with the quality of hockey instead of fending ourselves from fighters. it’s must win games from here on or our season will be over
