day 1937 – grand opening

was there to attend the grand opening of my cousin’s chocolate shop. it wasn’t very interesting because i didn’t even know three quarters of the people that attended. i really had no reason to stay there after the official ceremony, but i guess my mom had to do her socializing. i find that sometimes she takes on too much and becomes more of a counselor, mentor and psychologist for everyone around her. not everyone will appreciate her keen sense of friendliness

day 1644 – bayside dineout

i was quite reluctant to join in on the dineout vancouver festival, but mom insisted on taking visiting relatives out to a special dinner. aside from the lone boring topic that bored me to death, the dineout menu was actually quite good. i especially liked my appetizer of ahi tuna with mango and avocado. it’s apparent i can never get tired of eating salmon. the striploin steak wasn’t bad but i couldn’t finish as usual but got help as usual. the eating as gone awry over the last few weeks and it has to stop immediately. i told myself after this meal, i’ll gear down and be much more disciplined with my eating

the weather took a hit today. hong kong rain is nothing like vancouver’s; when it rains, it really pours. started the day in a mall called apm, that’s where i did some shopping and had lunch with my parents. the rain lightened in the afternoon so we decided to go to shum shui po to buy stuff from street vendors. even with the muggy weather, the streets of kowloon were jam packed with people

i am happy to meet up with my si hing who’s been ever so influential. we hung out and chatted as if we were back in the old vancouver days that i dearly miss. he took me around to local favourites and hidden gems. there i bought a lot of things and almost bought a new phone too

went to my cousin’s house for a homecooked dinner. this is really the first time i encountered my niece since the last time i saw her she was only four. she’s unbelievably smart and witty, but sometimes that makes her a little arrogant. luckily she adored me and listened to everything i said. she said i was the coolest person she met and even invited me to sleepover with her

it was a productive day despite the weather affecting some of our initial plans. i am spending a ton of money eating a ton of food here on vacation. i’ll need to work harder at earning it back and working it off when i return

day 1024 – classy tea

the muggy weather made me not want to go outside, but i got to make the most out of all the days i had left on my vacation. it turned out to be a pretty productive one. i was able to cross off a few things on my shopping list, met up with my si hing, then had a home cooked meal and classy chinese tea at my cousin’s house. my cousin’s daughter is a clever and energtic one, but a provided a challenge to contain
