day 2449 – home brew

woke up craving hong kong style milk tea and my mom came through. i really do miss my routine morning coffee runs or maybe it’s just the starbucks withdrawal starting to hit. my sleeping schedule is pretty messed up nowadays; i don’t wake up early enough to brew any coffee or make breakfast. in the uncertain covid times, no one can predict how long this is going to last. i just don’t know if we’ll slowly settle for this type of lifestyle and make this the new norm

day 2429 – garage equipment

at apex for a private session working on my clean and jerks . the clean feels fine, but that jerk still feels somewhat disconnected, but still worked up to match my heaviest fifty-two kilos. the coach graciously lent me a set of equipment i could practice at home during this covid time. i get a men’s bar, and some lighter weights to practice safely. loading and unloading all that was a workout of its own

day 2427 – nacho zoom

while social distancing has distanced the nacho friends, we needed a way to virtually see each other’s faces. it was good to see what everyone was up to during the quarantine days. all of us are bored and some of us have lost our day to day jobs. i hope to set up a zoom video conferencing regularly just so all of us can stay in touch and stay sane during this crazy time

day 2423 – ramen eggs

it’s definitely weird to be staying in on a saturday afternoon instead of being at the dojo teaching. since there’s no teaching, i went to an apex session after much debate and hesitation due to covid-19. i had a really good session snatching up to forty kilos, clean and jerking fifty kilos and squatted a plate. i’m so happy to be out of the confined space and move my rotting body. i went home for lunch and made my first the six-minute egg. it turned out really well and made my noodles tasted extra delicious

day 2422 – mad wheels

many nominations and tags on instagram have been flowing around due to everyone’s pandemic boredom. one of them was a flashback photo prompted me to dig back into my old photo albums. this came across as one of my favourite. flashing back many years ago racing on a trike with my brother at an early age. i miss those carefree times when work, life and pandemic wasn’t a concern

day 2421 – empty court

tennis is technically a self distancing sport so seemed like a low risk activity to do. the courts were empty on the normally popular van tech courts. it’s been so long since i last hit the courts so there was a lot of rust and not so much rally. my shins forgot how hard the pavement is and immediately felt the soreness hit. this is a sport i could play a lot more of even when all my leagues are down

day 2418 – social distance

coronavirus emergency took another step suspending all non essential services until further notice. that means my chiropractor appointment this morning is cancelled. my lifting gyms are still open but that may also change any minute. even i don’t think i’ll risk going to steve nash or apex for the time being. good thing my tricking gym is still in operation or else i’ll have nothing to do. i really hope that doesn’t get too out of hand because i don’t think i can get used to this concept of social distancing

day 2416 – student teacher

taekwondo classes continue despite the coronavirus warnings across the city. i’m surprised vancouver parks board hasn’t cancelled the classes while everything else has been put to a halt. with all my teams and leagues cancelled or postponed, i’m praying that neither my lifting gym nor my tricking gym closes too. i’m more worried that i won’t have any of my activities and will die of boredom if quarantine ever takes place
