day 3069 – full sheets

acquired the four sheets of plywood and mdf for my olympic lifting platform. moving the sheets into the studio was extremely difficult because of how big a full sheet is. my contractor was nice enough to transport the mdf sheet to my studio. the plywood was heavy enough, but the oversized mdf was on another level. i was prepared for it and bruised my hand while carrying it up the stairs. hopefully there’s no more carrying or heavy lifting for the next day or two

day 3056 – taekwondo mats

the storage space continues to expand and now some equipment have crept into my living room. i don’t have a small house by all means, but it’s staying to feel cramped. i can’t wait to get everything into the studio so the house looks less cluttered. a portion of the old taekwondo mats have moved in and the next batch will be coming in next week. if it all goes well with the contractor, i should be able to get them into the studio within the next week

day 3054 – carpet striped

there was only one task today and i wasn’t going to leave this place until its done. after five hours, the two of us managed to stripe all the existing layers of the of carpet. there’s no carpet left in this place and it’ll be soon ready for the new vinyl. the contractor was super impressed when he saw we took care of the moving, paining, carpet and ikea assembly all in the past week. the time crunch continues but i think we’re doing a good job

day 3051 – partition down

i’ve been staying on top of the renovation process and checking in on the studio everyday. there’s no days off especially with the timeline i’m working with. i came to check on the progress after teaching and it’s great to see the glass partition wall is removed. the space looks a lot different when some unwanted walls and flooring are removed. today is another coat of paint on selected walls and more furniture preparation so i can pass off to the contractor

day 3047 – contractor at work

checking in on the studio renovation and very pleased to see how fast the contractor is working. so far he’s been easy to communicate and work with because he is very transparent with what he can and cannot do. it’s still in the early phase of the reno, but i think we’re on pace for the schedule we agreed on. the space already looks so different with some minor demolition. i can’t wait to see the progress in a few more days

day 3044 – painter’s tools

now that i’ve secured a contractor and have a start date, i’m getting things ready to prime the wall. i can’t wait to get rid of the ugly shade of blue with layer of white primer. there’s a lot to do from now until the studio grand opening. the timeline i have set is quite tight, but i believe the target date is achievable as long as i keep going and stay on top all of my tasks

day 3022 – paint and prime

there’s a lot to be done with the renovations from here on. i was really eager to put the first coat of primer on the walls to cover up the preexisting ugly shade of blue. one coat of white primer, stripping the window blinds, removing random pieces of wood and this place already looks way better. so much physical labour involved when i probably should be staying off my feet. i want to get all my steps done so it’s contractor ready

day 1472 – corridor floor

DSC_1662third day of the contractor laying down hardwood floor. it’s coming along nicely; he’s working slowly but diligently as those curved steps on the stairs is complicated. i hope he can get more done over the weekend so i don’t have to deal with the sawdust. it’s looking quite nice but i still don’t like how the random creaking noises comes with. no matter what, i think i’ll always prefer carpet in my bedroom
