day 2183 – smash nash

my friend joined me for workout because she wanted to check out this location. she also wanted to do what i do because she wanted my hops; that in itself is a big compliment. i needed to get back on track with my strength lifts and stay consistent. my cleans felt better than last time just by staying concentrated the moment the bar leaves the ground to the time my shoulders catch it. my squats felt good and stepped it up by five pounds as my program was written up. i recorded both those lifts so i could get them reviewed by my coach

day 2077 – loaded front squats

each tuesday at the apex gym, i’ve pushed a heavier weight than the preceding, setting a personal best every single week since i started training here. prior to being on this program, i’ve been stuck within the one hundred mark. i’m really pleased i just hit the one plate mark for front squats. my snatches also felt pretty good and upped my weight to sixty nine. though it’s not the max snatch, they’re done with better technique and increased consistency. let’s keep setting personal best for all my lifts including front squat, back squats, snatches and cleans

day 2062 – roundoff backtuck

precisely my reaction after landing my roundoff backtuck on flightclub floor. it most definitely lifted a lot of poundage off my shoulders. i was really close in february, but ended up jamming my ankle that started all my ankle woes. since then, my roundoff was never the same because my body would subconsciously protect it. that didn’t change the fact that i kept pushing it which really punished my ankles. i’m so happy that i finally landed my first. it was worth the wait because landing a solid one today is much better than a marginal one a month ago. stringing up a strong finish to march landing this and improving the consistency of my standing backtucks

day 2002 – attire change

showed up to work dressed a little different today. the attire is different from my usual; a new turtle neck and cardigan. the colours of my wardrobe has a high level of consistency; still wearing my typical blacks and greys. though i was feeling a little insecure, i also felt a little more confident at the same time. the long weekly meeting i had with my manager in the morning was kind of important to me because it was i have felt a bit more distant from him since the transition. after our talk about catalytic coaching, i felt like i had a better sense of direction

day 1769 – may birthday cake

big save on cake at showtime for all the may babies in the office. last year may babies got ripped off on our faceless cake. this year, we sure got an extra large cake with our caricatures on it. it seems absurd to be recelebrating a birthday that happened a month after the actual date. after stuffing my face, literally, i went for my second tricky class and got more practice flips in. i hope to attend as often as i can cause i want it back soon

day 1161 – midterm one

i’ve never been a keener that’s the first to show up to class. i am a natural procrastinator; arriving just in time is what i do. it surprises me four weeks in and still perfectly punctual. in fact, i’ve been consistent at arriving fifteen before class starts. i prepared myself for a much more technical and hands on midterm, but it turns out to be more theoretical. feeling slightly relieved because i think i did well, but now i have to turn my attention to the term project which will no doubt have me all stressed out soon

day 1076 – kettlebelling

finding my way to the gym on mondays has rarely been a problem. it’s kind of like a remote control that has me dialled in for some good sweat sessions. mondays are generally a very active day for me consisting of gym, training and some type of ball sport. getting my squatting and kettlebell workout in today before i am off to hit some tennis balls. we played some doubles matches king of the court style. i tend to shy away from matches whenever possible
