day 2389 – preschool graduates

five years ago, these two four year olds graduated from the preschool program and joined me in my children’s class. it was a steep learning curve for both of them to adapt to the regular program with much bigger kids. i’m so proud of these two for not giving up when it got hard. it can be nerve-wracking standing on competition mat alone, especially only being four feet tall. their hard work and perseverance got them their red belt today. they’ve accomplished a lot only at nine years old; i can’t wait to see them achieve more

day 2304 – lesson plan

ever so busy getting students ready for tomorrow. i have about two dozen students taking this month’s promotion test. since it’s the last test of the calendar year, i’m cramming a few more who’s well overdue. i think as an instructor, i’m more concerned and nervous than the students who’s taking the test. i worked them all pretty hard today, keeping all after class longer than usual. hopefully their hard work pays off at the test

day 2249 – testers and testees

i never kept track of the number of promotion tests i’ve led, but if i had to make a guess, it would over fifty. done another colour belt tes today before heading out to flightclub. i almost didn’t make it out to open gym because i joined them for an spontaneous dinner. i still ended up going, and worked on some back handsprings drills which i found quite insightful. i stayed until the end of the open gym, i’m going to be super tired tomorrow morning

2042 – killarney kids

this is the end of our poomsae training sessions before saturday’s bc championship. this is one of the largest killarney team we’ll have at a provincial competition. through the past several weeks of training, they’ve work really hard and improved a lot. i want to keep growing killarney’s competition team and create the comradery that we’ve never had before. hopefully this will lead to something good like taking some of them to bigger stages

day 1914 – courtside mastercup

it’s showtime for my students who’s going to compete in this year’s master cup. to all those stepping on the mat at provincial stage, i’m proud of all of them to have the courage to compete. to all my competitors, i’m happy to see the improvements in each and every one of you. this is the first time friends outside of taekwondo world came out and it was quite fun. the freestyle poomsaes is what i had to stay for, even if it meant i would be late for teaching. i’m super exhausted after the long day of coaching and teaching. i cleaned up to pass out before ten thirty
