day 2272 – snatch off blocks

first time utilizing the blocks to do my snatches. not the best day of snatches but a decent day of clean and jerks. the high blocks was suppose to focus on a full extension. i adjusted my stance before the split and it seemed to have positive changes. i’m most happy that olympic lifting didn’t further hurt my foot. it was quite a demanding workout even though it didn’t seem like i lifted a whole lot of weight. my arms and quads were extremely taxed by the end of it all

day 2258 – mom’s cake day

my regular tuesday olympic lift day went well, maybe because it being my mom’s birthday gave me the extra boost. i made all my lifts today which rarely happens. it’s odd to say my snatches felt very controlled when i have one sore elbow from all the falls. after some heavy lifting, enjoyed a family dinner at home and mango mousse birthday cake for dessert. another year passes by, another birthday celebration, but always celebrating with those who give me unconditional love. growing older each year makes me realize what i should cherish more

day 2251 – overhead lifts

starting october strong lifting at apex. i like taking videos during training so i can review and analyze them, also a good way to track progress. worked through the waves for both snatches and clean and jerks, both feeling pretty good. snatch wave up to thirty eight kilos and clean and jerk wave up to forty nine kilos while only failing one of each is considered an improvement. the new coach helping out at apex is also an olympic lifter so i’m looking forward to getting double the amount of feedback

day 2239 – clean and jerk

third and final week of analyzing my clean and jerk to pinpoint where the weak point of the lift lies. in the previous two sessions, i was restricted to use only what i could strict press. i was given the green light today to test out what’s the heaviest i could safely clean and jerk. my initial thought was i wouldn’t be disappointed if i could reach forty kilograms. i kept adding the minis bit by bit and surprised myself with a fifty two kilogram max. maybe i should have set the bar a little lower but that would be selling myself short

day 2232 – jerk complex

still a week of getting comfortable with the clean and jerk motion. staying on the light side doing the tech work. the complex is the same as last week with the exception of doubling up on the jerks. i definitely felt better and more stable compared to last session. my body is gradually remembering what it used to do, but one thing i realize from the video is my split stance is on the short side

day 2225 – clean and jerk

coach changed my program up and is getting me to relearn my clean and jerk. this is considered leveling up because he thinks i have a chance of going to competition in the near future. i think i’m up for the challenge and would like a shot at a weightlifting competition. first day on the clear and jerk program is light and easy one. it’s also considered a deload week with lighter snatches and light clean and jerks

day 1113 – olympic fever

in the midst of summer olympics happening in rio, i am also getting my share of action – olympic lifts. a little correction and a lot of practice goes a long way. i am slowly but surely getting better and smoother with my clean and jerks. i’m pleased my clean and jerks have improved vastly since i first picked it up, need to work twice as hard on my snatches so it will eventually catch up. a pretty good way to start off hump day before dealing with various pressing issues and projects with deadlines
