happiness challenge

30 days of happiness-01.jpgstumbling across a neat little challenge that i also wanted to take on. i added a little spice to the original list and call this series the 30 days of happiness. for the thirty days in april, i’ll try to check off one item on this list each day. it doesn’t sound like much, but fulfilling one item a day would accumulate. the trick is no two days will be the same and by the time april end rolls around, many boxes will be checked off. by doing so, it makes my brain look for something good each day, regardless of whether i love or hate doing something. let’s keep the spring season ahead light and create a habit to be happy

day 1696 – treading 

originally feeling pretty crummy after a day of work and taekwondo combo, and really didn’t feel like going to do any running. the perfect sign of gym rat when you autonomously drive and end up at the gym. since i was already there i might as well give it my best shot at completing today’s pre-planned workout. as i was running, i was confused why i even wanted to do this in the first place. i felt a weird appreciation for myself for having made it through the duration even when i did not want to. the size of the task wasn’t the focal point, but the fact i took on something that was challenging to me. i left the gym all smiles, but for sure feeling much better than i walked in

day 1670 – morning run 

treadmill in the morning is something i’d only do for the sunrun. i felt better than a typical day despite running fasted. no surprise i grabbed a smoothie to replenish and on my way to teach. my typical saturday is basically run and gun until dinner time so my ramen with parents is well earned. i’m no marathon runner and i don’t see myself ever transforming into one, but i’ll put up with it for as long as i can. i signed up for this challenge, so i’m going to keep going because what i put in is what i’ll get out of it

day 1665 – propensity 


staying true to my words, i made an appointment to have my physio tend to all my aggravated body parts. i’ve had continuous overload of activities as of late which has been taxing in on my body. my trusted physio basically went full body adjusting my thumb, wrist, neck, back, tailbone and ankle. before getting fixed, i was with my kinesiologist who once again challenged me with another of his newly invented exercise and then revisited one i found difficult last time around. i felt like i was circus in training, working on stability with two balls and discs. surprisingly what was hard the first time is no longer hard anymore

day 1295 – another move 

the department has had a lot of changes since the new manager stepped in. my role has been flipped upside down and i’m not on a team anymore. i’m on my own transitioning into developing a new collection of drawings and renderings. this will be a good change and a good challenge for myself. and although my desk has been relocated, the same desk setup still applies

day 1257 – power skating

sleeping in on sunday is a first since i no longer have to teach killarney. instead, i went for a morning workout and my very first class of power skating lesson in the afternoon. i’m there to learn techniques that can give my game an extra boost to improve even quicker. i felt the pressure to keep up with the faster group, but it’s good cause i need that challenge. this is how sundays should be, a relaxing day doing things together

day 1024 – classy tea

the muggy weather made me not want to go outside, but i got to make the most out of all the days i had left on my vacation. it turned out to be a pretty productive one. i was able to cross off a few things on my shopping list, met up with my si hing, then had a home cooked meal and classy chinese tea at my cousin’s house. my cousin’s daughter is a clever and energtic one, but a provided a challenge to contain
