day 1376 – our birthdays

this sunday was all about gstring playoffs, taekwondo and birthday dinner. a really bad fall gave me a scare because a rib out caused breathing and talking troubles. my chiropractor did not want me to continue playing, but being me and being playoffs, that wasn’t going to happen. thinking back, i made a reckless decision but it was something i would have risked for my team. it would have been nice to take both spirit owl and tier champ but kudos for making it to finals. our birthday celebration finally happened because i’ve had a crazy busy all of last week. fine dining at the apron with korean spicy wings, salmon with quinoa and seafood linguine

day 1054 – fancy feast

a rare fancy occurrence on the island for a belated celebration of our significant day. we chowed down on the many fresh seafood dockside had to offer including squid, halibut, salmon, scallop and mussels. i couldn’t have asked for more than celebrating with great company in a great atmosphere. time really flew us by; we’ve been keeping it steady and strong. three months ago, i couldn’t imagine what i was getting myself into; today, i can’t imagine what it would have been without

day 989 – date night

a nice sumptuous dinner and night out in the neighbourhood for reaching our first little milestone together. having connections really does help; hooked ourselves up with some good fusion tapasĀ at torafuku. the restaurant is not located in a prominent area, the decor does not wow anyone with its interior, but eaters are drawn to focus on the flavour and essence of the food. it’s been one heck of a month and i only look forward to all the times we’ll share and all the memories we’ll create

day 952 – milestone at milestones

celebrating my parents big coral milestone at milestones. it wasn’t my optimal restaurant choice to say the least but had to settle because i wasn’t able to make reservations for my top pick. the food was alright, but the kitchen was super slow and the service was likewise. i was starving at every course of this dinner which didn’t make me a happy camper. happy anniversary to the most amazing parents i could ever wish for. the two of them combined their powers to support me in every possible way

day 900 – dineout

one more food post because it’s dineout vancouver in conjunction with a belatedĀ  celebration for my dad’s birthday. the kale salad and this seafood linguine was top notch, but the chocolate mousse dessert was disappointing. i normally don’t eat pasta but had to pick it after hearing good things about it. i guess i could break my rules just for dad’s special occasion

day 897 – cake for dad

a vegan chocolate mousse cake for dad’s birthday this year. unfortunately much too sweet and too rich to his liking, but i’ll keep in mind to place a custom order next time. nonetheless it wasn’t just about the cake, it’s the company that makes all the difference. as we grow older, i realize what you do for the family cannot and will not always be observed. lots go unnoticed but you go about your business no matter the situation and that’s what makes you special

day 883 – downtown countdown

spending the last of 2015 near canada place enjoying beautiful holiday lights before some highly anticipated midnight fireworks. the night was so cold, two brisk walks along the seawall was more than enough to get us frozen head to toe. 2015 was good for the most part, but i know that 2016 will be the best year yet. ready to take on bigger challenges that will get me past levels i have come far too comfortable at staying within
