day 2536 – pick up

the past forty eight hours has been bad to say the least. the routine doesn’t stop just because i’m having it rough. i still woke up for my morning apex session and i still went to train in the evening. the apex session was good. i surpassed what was asked – an extra set of snatches, upped the weight in the accessory lifts. today also marks the twenty fifth anniversary my family landed in vancouver. we celebrated with a dimsum lunch which helped me take my mind off the bad things

day 2515 – father’s day lunch

the first time dining out with the family in months because celebrating father’s day trumps covid. just cherishing the times we get to spend together as a family because it’s really become a rarity. we went to jin jiang near royal oak for a shanghainese lunch. we mainly ordered appetizers and laid off on the heavy carbs of noodles and rice. i’m not a fan of their jellyfish head, but the the xiao long bao and egg white dish was delicious

day 2508 – picnic dinner

last minute changes to co-worker’s birthday because dine in wasn’t really available. fortunately, the weather changed for the better so we could order takeout and have a picnic dinner. seeing my coworkers after months of separation is pretty heart warming. we had an enjoyable time catching up with lots of laughs. was planning to just chill, but ended up tossing a frisbee around, hid from big dogs and did a flip. i miss seeing their faces at the office and chatting on teams to get through the work day together

day 2436 – ice cream cake

crazy quarantine time isn’t the most ideal way to spend any birthday, but with no place to dine in, my brother will have to settle for a sushi takeout dinner. we also changed it up and brought an ice cream cake from dairy queen. it was quite the nostalgic taste because we haven’t had it since our teenage years. i really hope this covid situation has significant improvements soon so we won’t be trapped in our homes desperately looking for things to entertain ourselves with

day 2410 – anniversary dimsum

my parents have gone through many anniversaries, but not one is less important than the others. it’s always good to celebrate these events as a family because it wouldn’t exist without any one of us. the celebration was good but beyond that, life is a little grim. not only are both my ankle messed up or sprained, both my knee are banged up from a tumble, both my wrist are in pain and my right shoulder is still recovering

day 2395 – coach jervin’s

saturday night celebrating coach jervin’s birthday at flightclub. i brought sushi to the potluck dinner and it was demolished within twenty minutes. after much eating, chatting and cake cutting, we played big games of mafia. it was really fun since it was my first time being a mafia. can’t believe some of us stayed until almost 2am just chatting in the dark. this was after teaching seven straight hours so i was super tired and my brain could barely function properly

day 2356 – barbie’s birthday

we celebrated earlier over the weekend, but as with all other times, we always try to have the cake on the day of. we took a bunch of photos and enjoyed this lovely mango mousse cake. i hardly show my appreciation for what he does for me and the family. as we all grow older, i understand i must try harder to show how much i appreciate the distance he goes to do what’s best of us. i’ll definitely try harder to be the better daughter he’s always wanted. i want nothing but a healthy and happy amongst my family. hope that this year will be the best year yet

day 2353 – cactus dinner

my dad chose to have his early birthday dinner celebrated at cactus club at byrne road. i haven’t had white food for quite some time so i didn’t mind it. instead of each person ordering an individual dish, we shared because we wanted less quantity and more variety. we had a good mix of food that included chicken kale salad, yam fries, steak and frites, quesadilla, tuna poke bowl. dinners like these are important to us just to share quality family time when it matters most

day 2340 – century snatch

hit a high of forty three kilo snatch back in august and been stuck for the longest time. i matched that a couple times but couldn’t surpass it no matter how i tried. my goal of snatching the yellow plates was pretty much done for once the final week of the year rolled around. i walked in this morning thinking i’d give it one last shot and i’ll accept it knowing i gave it everything i had. i worked my way up to the century mark and took four attempts before i made it. good thing i didn’t pack it in before i succeeded or i would never have felt how fruitful the outcome was

day 2262 – family thanksgiving

we dont normally have a big celebration for thanksgiving, we save the turkey and the luxurios for christmas time. celebrating both mom’s belated birthday and thanksgiving in one dinner. my family doesn’t consume much, but as usual, we order way too much our stomachs require. all of us are super busy with our commitments, but we’re all just smiling because we can make time to spend these special days together
