day 1865 – cafe de l’orangerie

trying out a new restaurant i found tucked at the corner of hudson. it’s a little neat japanese runned cafe serving fusion, dessert, coffee and some alcoholics. i had a shared tuna gomae to go with my chicken tomato spaghetti. portions were quite big and as usual i couldn’t finish my meal and packed it to go. eating lots before i start my cut; i’ll cherish it while i can

day 1348 – sushi chefs

just a mellow sunday planning our itinerary along with making california rolls, wakame sushi along with miso soup for dinner. second try at making homemade sushi is much better than the first because we learned from our amateur mistakes. it also helps when we have the proper rolling utensils. note to self, this serving size is way too much for two and can probably serve four

day 1089 – patio dinner

more of teaching my taekwondo this morning plus another workout in afternoon, and i was ready to eat dinner. spending time with mo by going on a little north van adventure. laying back in the evening picking away at our hurricane grill burgers under the sun. it was a hot day, but perfect weather for a patio dinner. i was already feeling the monday blues nearing the end of the night and really didn’t want sunday to end

day 1038 – walk in not

i went to a walk in clinic with one thing on my mind – to get doctor’s clearance to play dodgeball again. i needed this more than ever because i am not about to miss pinepaple playoffs. turns out just my luck that the clinic closes early on fridays. instead of getting my note, i went out to have a chocolate toast for afternoon tea which i would consider carb loading before race day

day 993 – spot eating

me going to my family doctor is like the sun rose on the west side. i couldn’t get my way out of seeing her because my head is in dire need of assessment. while i am nursing my head and staying off whatever the doctor said not to do, i am hitting up the old and faithful whitespot. tonight felt like a movie and burger night and lots of mo time, so here’s my monty mushroom with caesar salad. it was good while i had the freedom to eat a little, and now it’s back to game plan to ease off it again

day 978 – carb loading

back in town from a self satisfying trip down portland. first off, post competition breakfast carb loading with my man. competition prep period had its millions of sacrifices and restrictions which made some days painstakingly hard to get through. i haven’t eaten so much in a meal in so long, i forget how bread and potatoes amongst many other things taste like. i’ll give myself a couple days off to indulge in things i couldn’t have had during that phase, but won’t be long before i have to live with those restrictions again in pursuit of my next big event

day 805 – banana split

today i found out what is a true banana split, and i don’t mean one that has ice cream in a boat. back after a long weekend, feeling sad the long weekend came to an end and it will be another month of working hard to earn the next statutory holiday. even though i didn’t have much time to just sit and do nothing, i still feel somewhat rejuvenated and ready to continue the climb, work hard, and train hard. one thing to be grateful about is the october sunshine vancouver is still receiving
