day 2293 – nucks verse preds

the canucks have been doing surprisingly well out of the gate this season. i’ve been keeping up with the canucks games on television as much as i can. my linden jersey was ready to catch it live at rogers arena for this first time this season. the young players and new prospects have been doing really well. so glad to witness pettersen score two goals on his birthday. i’m still debating if i should buy a 50th anniversary jersey with pettersen stitched

day 1800 – canucks showdown

saw so many familiar faces watching the canucks prospects summer showdown. there’s a few highly touted prospects i’m really excited to see and hopefully one or two of them will make the big club next year. i enjoyed the format of the event cause i got to watch them in five on five, four on four, three or three and even shootout. the carve burger was okay, but there was no nutritional value. i guess going with the poke bowl would have given me some preferred veggies

day 1781 – bobbles reunite

took long enough to get the second half of my sedin bobble head. with the sedins, it is only complete with the two of them are linked side by side. to be honest, even though the retirement was announced two months ago, i already miss both henrik and daniel. i can’t imagine how different the locker room of the canucks with be come september. i don’t remember how it was like before the sedin brothers came and took over the franchise. i’m also hopeful that some of the young guns will step up to take on more

sedinery era

i’m utmost shocked the sedin twins have announced retirement today. when the news first appeared on my news feed, my heart sank and i was crying inside. how i wished it was fake news, how i wished it was still april fools. i remember watching the draft pick in 1999, when two baby-faced boys stepped on the stage after brian burke announced his second and third picks consecutively. they took a lot of criticism over the years, but for the longest time they carried the team on their backs. it was evident to see their growth in nhl, as i watched them turn from boys to men. through the eighteen years of sedinery, they invented a brand of telepathic hockey never seen before, and they have the hart, art ross, king clancy and ted lindsay to show for. despite not having won a stanley cup in their nhl days, they had an amazing career in vancouver. the fact they stayed a canuck their whole career says a lot with totals like over two thousand six hundred games played and over two thousand one hundred points. regardless, cup or no cup, they were remarkable players that displayed class and leadership on and off the ice. so often i hear opposing players have insurmountable respect for them, even those on rival teams. i wish they didn’t make this announcement so i can continue to watch them play, but it felt right for them and their families. i’m going to miss their cycles, slap passes, between the legs tip passes, playoff heroics, and most importantly i’m going to miss seeing number twenty-two and thirty-three on the ice. the fact both of them attaining their one thousandth point this season is a very fitting way to end a hockey career. they’ll go down as one of the best twins to have ever played the game. i hope one day they will be inducted into the hockey hall of fame

day 1701 – canuckle head

upgrading our seats to section 104 on henrik bobble head night. showed up the rogers arena when the doors opened to get this the exclusive souvenir before hitting the lounge for some grub. was looking forward to try the famous lobster roll until i realized there’s onions, so ended up with a triple o’s burger instead. the canucks was definitely the better team and dominated the ducks even though losing would be for a better cause at this point of the season. i think of the games i’ve gone to this season, only one was a loss

day 1637 – canuckle head

dethroning the kings wasn’t expected but that’s what canucks did as eriksson potted two goals within four minutes into the first period. my prediction prior to the game was a win four to two,  but they went on to drown the kings six to two. getting the win was good but also seeing boeser score two more and horvat finally back in the lineup was even better. this night out was definitely needed as i had one heck of a day at work fielding ridiculous requests after requests. wish these people dishing out unreasonable requests would have some understanding and knowledge of what we do is really not cut and paste

day 1635 – canucks ice

this is an extraordinary experience being able to skate on the sheet on ice that the canucks play on. third straight day lacing up my skates to skate on arguably the best surface in vancouver. i really can’t turn down any chance to attend canucks members exclusive events like such. i came for the skating experience, but i got more than that; the bench, the hall and locker room were all available for roaming. fin was also on hand so i got a chance to take a goofy photo. two straight sundays where i didn’t even bother setting an alarm because i definitely earned the sleep in
