day 2515 – father’s day lunch

the first time dining out with the family in months because celebrating father’s day trumps covid. just cherishing the times we get to spend together as a family because it’s really become a rarity. we went to jin jiang near royal oak for a shanghainese lunch. we mainly ordered appetizers and laid off on the heavy carbs of noodles and rice. i’m not a fan of their jellyfish head, but the the xiao long bao and egg white dish was delicious

day 2402 – onezo rose

i taught through the whole taekwondo shift plus poomsae training and didn’t once get to sit down. i was so tired i honestly didn’t even care for dinner. all i wanted to do was make it out to onezo on their last day of rose tapioca. first time trying onezo, first time trying rose pearls and first time making a special trip just to get a bubble tea. the rose with the grapefruit pulp gave it a unique sweet and sour taste. i drank that and passed out before eleven o’clock hit

day 2353 – cactus dinner

my dad chose to have his early birthday dinner celebrated at cactus club at byrne road. i haven’t had white food for quite some time so i didn’t mind it. instead of each person ordering an individual dish, we shared because we wanted less quantity and more variety. we had a good mix of food that included chicken kale salad, yam fries, steak and frites, quesadilla, tuna poke bowl. dinners like these are important to us just to share quality family time when it matters most

day 2350 – nacho business

getting my new nacho jersey after two and a half months out of the nachos lineup and first game since we’ve been tiered down. this will be shortest bench of the season of only nine skaters, so we went with six forwards and three defense. rolling three defense was tough, we ran out of gas by the end of the game. despite the short bench, it was really fun and enjoyable now that we’re in a suitable tier

day 1813 – first base lady

off softball for two weeks and my timing is a bit off at both the batter’s box and at first base. i’m either a little early or late getting my bat around, but i’m sure it won’t be long until i make solid contact again. this season i’ve earned the trust of my teammates and proved that i can be the go-to first base woman. playing first base has it’s challenges. not only do i have to contend with the sun, protect myself, avoid the runner but also catch the ball. today was one of those days where i had to contend with the setting sun for the first four innings

day 1780 – father’s dinner

end of the week finally came and the eye bag represents how much the work week has really exhausted me. the evening was spent celebrating father’s day with the man that taught me much of what i know. the family is a whole unit and it would be incomplete without any one of the members. we’re all busy in our own ways, but we make sure that never changes. the whole family gets together during special times like this

day 1457 – sushiuomo

img_20200203_1514382866169907070613394.jpgi quite like the new place we found and the temakis that was served. it was a feel good kind of day because i felt encouraged at work when my manager told me he praised me during the management meeting for how well i’ve been developing the new collection and the rhythm the technical team is in. makes me understand that my hard work isn’t transparent and good managers will always be there to let you know that

day 1456 – dugout view

img_20200203_1516406258442838894034692.jpgplaying softball with this back drop is quite the pleasure. i’m still thinking about the ump’s strike zone that made me strikeout. how can a pitch be called strike when i have to step back to avoid getting hit by the pitch?? playing first base is always fun and it always makes it better after making a few good plays. our opponent may be a tier above, but it turns out they’re a bunch of douchebags with poor sportsmanship

day 1399 – slopitch

img_20200204_1621422940480177899180125.jpgthe rain was coming down hard in richmond so i thought surely the rain would be even worse in burnaby. the league said games run as schedule and good call for them. the field was mucky, but the weather didn’t turn out too bad. i layered up to anticipate a chilly evening and it was. it was important to stay warm through the game so i had to keep moving in the dugout. i actually ran a lot of bases and had a good line at the plate too. thinking if it will be wise to play tomorrow because my hip is in a great deal of pain

day 1203 – world juniors

image

the best of the juniors started pouring into burnaby a few days ago and will be here this week for the biggest event in vancouver since olympic 2010. the rink i usually play hockey in is now converted into four hexagonal rings. the accreditation centre and training centre was full of big shots and young stars. never knew i could shake hands with or talk to so many masters in one day
