day 2180 – three bag

left my jersey in the wash, but at least i found a shirt to wear. first time i’m fielding on the right side of the diamond at third base. i was ready to take some balls off the body because the ball really kicks up after a bouncing on gravel. ended the night with only two bruises, one on the bicep and one on the stomach. i haven’t figured out how to take high balls off the backhand but i did made some pretty good stops and threw out two runners at first base. the team played really well defensively considering we were playing opponents a tier above

2099 – softball season

i was unable to attend softball opening weekend so espr season kicks off for me with a double header. i got reacquainted at first base which is the position i’ll probably play at most of the season. the swing is a little off after eight month off season. i only managed to get on base three of the six at bats. i took a hard ball to the shin early in the second double header which got me limping. i didn’t need to unroll my high socks during the game because i already saw a big bump forming. when i got home, i checked the damage but made the executive decision i didn’t need to get it examined further

day 2019 – ladies locker room

there must have been a memo somewhere out there to wear purple today. i don’t think i’ve ever been so agitated and come so close to getting into a hockey fight. i was on the boards in a puck battle when he pushed me and i shoved him back. i guess he least expected me to stand up to a big guy like him so he tried to establish his dominance by throwing a jab at my head that i dodged. he then tried to put his arm around my neck thinking he could throw me down. i took exception of it and stood in front of him and stared him down as the refs ushered him into the penalty box

day 1921 – sizeable puck

i put myself in front of the shot to a squirtle game and it so happens to hit the only unpadded area on my leg. my whole leg went numb and i struggled to get back to the bench. good thing there’s meat on my thigh to absorb the impact of the puck. playing defense is fun, but this is one of the sacrifice to play the position. this bruise looks kind of scary and is here to stay for a while

day 1892 – handed to me

my hand and whole left side has really taken a fair share of beating the past year. first the broken thumb, then the torn supraspinatus tendon, plus the bruised and unknown status of my wrist and now smacked my once broken thumb. it’s frustrating as ever to never have proper moving body to work with. i really could use some full body bubble wrap for protection. tomorrow is the one year mark since suffering a devastating broken thumb, a memory i will likely never forget

day 1792 – supreme me

ate a late night banana and hope i don’t get leg cramps overnight after a night of flipping and hockey sandwiched with a quick dinner. got a chance to test out my newly acquired supreme shin pads and i like the coverage. overall, my line played a good game despite getting hit in the ribs with a slapshot during warmup. i felt it immediately and hunched over for a good while and the fact adrenaline hasn’t clicked in wasn’t a good feeling. it hit hit directly in unpadded territory between my pants and chest protector. i’ll definitely see the big bruise tomorrow morning

day 1786 – thoracolumbar

not how i had planned out my thursday. i had to leave work early, miss bootcamp and skip softball to visit my chiropractor. only then had i found out i injured my thoracolumbar junction. i’m in so much pain i couldn’t rotate, bend or reach. i wanted to continue with my sports, but there was really no range for that. of course, i tried to tape my own back and needed to prove it can be done. i struggled behind the mirror for over an hour before putting it with proper tension. only then i realized the jammed part of the vertebrae had a softball sized bruise
