day 2353 – cactus dinner

my dad chose to have his early birthday dinner celebrated at cactus club at byrne road. i haven’t had white food for quite some time so i didn’t mind it. instead of each person ordering an individual dish, we shared because we wanted less quantity and more variety. we had a good mix of food that included chicken kale salad, yam fries, steak and frites, quesadilla, tuna poke bowl. dinners like these are important to us just to share quality family time when it matters most

day 2153 – nintendo switch

a cozy night staying in playing nintendo switch and eating sushi. just a small get together to celebrate an ex-coworker’s birthday. also a good time to catch up and digress a little on the things that’s been happening around. after i got a few things off my chest, we changed the mood with some games. i rarely get to play video games, but it’s no surprise i got creamed in every game we played. we had good laughs all around and that’s all it matters

day 2103 – escape room

slept until 1pm because saturday night shenanigans didn’t end until 5am. continuing my crazy birthday weekend with flightclub family that started with earl’s happy hour, then escape room puzzle solving and ended with an open gym session. it was great both the groups solved the mystery and escape our respective rooms. the giant birthday back tuck circle during open gym was definitely a bonus that capped it all off. i’m grateful so many people in my life wanted to hangout and celebrate my birthday with me

day 2102 – matcha birthday

an action packed birthday that came with many surprises. since i was up early for my parents’ flight, i stopped to get the my free frappuccino birthday drink – most expensive drink of their menu. the afternoon was spent at gstrings playoffs. though questionable about the tiering, we played our hardest and fought until the very end. the girls surprised me by bringing me a post playoff birthday cake. a dinner with the squirtle girls followed by our regular saturday night hockey. i’m very happy to have capped off the eventful day with two goals at civil war. i had an amazing birthday doing the activities i enjoy, with the some of the most lovable people

day 2101 – celebrating my existence

the celebration of my birth with my family comes a day before because my parents are flying out for vacation. i couldn’t decide on a japanese restaurant, so settled with dai jung kum instead. we enjoyed a good dinner together completed with a combo with no shortage of food on the table – barbecue meat, seafood pancake, dumplings, soup and side dishes. i enjoyed the dinner very much, not because of the delicious food, but the opportunity to sit down and share it with my family. my birthday would never be complete unless i can spend some quality time with my loved ones that would never leave me behind

day 2100 – dual birthdays

we haven’t gone out for lunch in a while but may birthdays gives us an excuse to do so. we went to steveston ora sushi for some bentos. we don’t see each other as much ever since we split buildings. the lunch hangout was brief, but it still hit the spot. and so the birthday meals begins and goes through until sunday. as expected, i may be sick of food by the end of this weekend

day 1925 – random gift

sometimes the perks of being an instructor is helping students not expecting anything in return. anything that involves writing reference letters, signing volunteer forms, filling in evaluations and even answering supervisor phone calls. once in a while there’ll be the odd thank you gifts. today is one of those days where i received a cadillac gift card from a parent as if it was my birthday. i wish to continue to help in any way possible not because of these thank yous, but because i can
