been working on building up my pullups for a month now and it’s seen some small but steady improvements. i’m not going to lie; it’s not my top choice of exercise and i would skip it with reason. this is the week of the eights, which feels like an intimidating task. during the first set i pulled myself up eight times without letting go of the bar, but thereafter, i gassed out and wanted to stop after six. it was important to be told that i can’t walk away from the bar until i complete the prescribed number. my arms were very much done after i did an extra fourth set because i lost a bet
winning a hockey bet this season scored me a free steak dinner. this is the second season we had this bet for a fishsticks point race and are having this bet and i narrowly edged out the win. enjoying an earl’s sirloin steak before catching captain marvel. i really liked the main character and enjoyed the plot twist in the movie despite it receiving many negative reviews
scoring my way through to winning the wager of a sushi meal. from the exterior, i would never have known this was a eatery until my friend highly recommended. everything about this place is authentic – the decor to the service and the food. we ordered a sushi set platter, suonomono, dungeness crab california roll and tempura udon. what i had today were one of the finest and freshest nigiris ever tasted
upgrading our seats to section 104 on henrik bobble head night. showed up the rogers arena when the doors opened to get this the exclusive souvenir before hitting the lounge for some grub. was looking forward to try the famous lobster roll until i realized there’s onions, so ended up with a triple o’s burger instead. the canucks was definitely the better team and dominated the ducks even though losing would be for a better cause at this point of the season. i think of the games i’ve gone to this season, only one was a loss
third last game of the season for fishsticks so filling the scoresheet is what i needed. i did exactly that tonight, taking the lead in my bet with a one goal two assist night. i was tired heading into the game having worked from nine to eight with a two hour gap in between teaching shift and promotion test, but not so tired after such good production. i’m sure i’ll feel the fatigue even more tomorrow trying to wake up for my 7:30am shift after a late game. i’m just happy that i feel like i’m rounding into form again as playoffs are ramping up.
it’s friday anf i have hockey; this combination usually means it’s a good day. i fit a workout in between as part of my warmup to get me psyched up for this game. i was feeling strong going through my warmup and light power lifts. fishsticks as a whole played a well rounded game and dominated the ice in every way. i for one had a solid game with many nice passes, and a breakaway that could have ended the game. though we had many missed opportunities and didn’t come away with the win, but i have an assist to show for. feeling the frustration of being blindsided with no call, i played with more aggression and took someone down to send a message. quite satisfied with my game performance and know that i’ve just tied up my bet
got my sticks newly cut and taped for my real return to fishsticks since october. it’s been quite the wait, painful to say the least, but that’s what makes every shift that much more precious. though we had a really short bench, we skated hard until the end and got a few back. i felt good out there knowing i didn’t forget how to play or skate. i had fun on the ice and that’s all i asked for, the point was a bonus. the point race puts a little friendly fire so to push us to work harder to earn the bet
