day 826 – tape addict

there’s no denying i abuse athletic tape and going through rolls and rolls of tape is something i am accustomed to. i rummaged through my bag tonight only to find six used, semi used and brand new rolls of tape. my dependence on tape and braces has become so strong, i feel that it would get me through my activities and i will be a-okay . i always believed that athletic tape, braces, bengay and advil are the solution to most of my physical problems. no matter how banged up, bruised, sprained or sore i may be, these will allow me to continue training and playing my sports as i wish

day 682 – night training

a friday night devoted to training as usual. nothing that a little, or a lot of bengay cannot do for tightness and soreness to prevent me from training. ended up spending the rest of the night with the planning crew prepping for tomorrow’s meeting. i need to start stretching again after not having done so for a long time and now my flexibility is slowly disappearing. can’t let my flexibility go especially its the final stretch before nationals

day 644 – closing in

getting closer to competition means more cramming to be done. while that needs to be done, i still must be really cautious cause my groin has still has yet to heal, which exemplifies how badly i had pulled it two months back. hoping with a little help from my friend ben, it will not affect my left sidekick too much. this is usually the time i start to feel the urgency and my stress level is soaring exponentially

day 591 – my friend ben

happy saturday pi day because it’s only once we get 3.14.15. you have no idea how hard it is to find a store that carries this nowadays, so it makes these minty tubes ever so precious. found these sitting on the shelf and had to stock up on my friend ben after using the last of it the previous weekend. my training will go into full force very soon so i sure need these available and within my arms length at all times

poomsae uniform debut

okay i am not going to lie, i am as tired as i look in that picture all due to plenty of last minute cramming. not to mention dealing with a completely battered body because of cramming in late night practices days before. had a severe groin pull and major pre competition mental crisis even my friend ben couldn’t help out this time no matter how many times i slapped it on myself. luckily the adrenaline carried me through my part of the competition, but my groin was immobile the rest of the way and i needed major help in every way. i was contemplating for the longest time if it was the right time to pull out my new poomsae uniform, simply because i don’t feel ready and worthy of wearing this just yet. given what i had to work with, i am satisfied with my performance and no one can deny that

day 584 – pig out

my competition performance was alright despite the overall standings showing otherwise. i needed to put on bengay three times to pull off a gutsy performance which numbed the pain and got me through my poomsae. but as i sit here at dinner time, i fretful admit i used up all my quota and can no longer stand or sit without pain. now just looking to recover and get better before the next competition. after spending the entire day at competition, it was time to digress and feast. stayed out late chatting it up and didn’t climb into bed until 5am no thanks to daylight savings

day 583 – pre comp syndrome

at the school the night before competition doing some very last minute cramming. soreness finally easing off and i am finally able to do my full poomsae for the first time in a long time. it might be a little too late because i feel the pre competition crisis taking over. one side of my sidekick is very concerning but i know i need rest so i don’t overdo it. so i will just call it a day and hope that when i wake up tomorrow morning everything will be back to normal
