day 2499 – pixel nation

morning lift is how i normally start each day since covid. it’s pixel nation with generations two, three and four lined up in my garage gym. today is considered my push pull day with my two main lifts being bench and row. working on my weakest of the four big lifts, the bench press, and it’s good i have a spotter. i need to learn to keep pushing and not change my form even when the weight feels heavy

day 2492 – lifting duo

i did the best i could and tried not to let last night’s rough session affect my lifts, but can’t say i was too successful at hiding it. apex session was focused on clean and jerks. my lifts weren’t bad, but it took a lot to string together one good clean plus the jerk. i started off slow with the lighter weights but still worked up to a fifty kilogram clean and jerk. it was bench and row day for my second session back at my garage gym. i really wasn’t feeling strong with the shoulder, but surprised myself with a ninety pound bench for three reps. i’m really glad my friend comes to lift with meb he’s probably the reason why i push the weights i do

day 2479 – squamish drive

i was pretty bummed out the weather cancelled my tennis plans. instead of sitting around wasting my saturday, my friend and i decided to take a road trip up to squamish to pick up the plates another friend offered to lend me. it was a long drizzly drive, but it was nice to take shadow out for what might possibly be my last road trip with him. we got home and couldn’t wait to put the weights to good use – a one rep max kind of session. from the get go, i said i would be satisfied being able to deadlift one hundred and eighty five but i went on to attempt a twenty hundred and five which was a no go

day 2478 – carcassonne

finishing the week off strong with two good back to back lifting sessions today. unlike last friday’s apex session where i missed more than half my lifts, i had all makes today using the green plates. got home and did a second lift with my flightclub fam. hitting the four big lifts and then some accessories. i was able to attempt sprints on the last two laps which feels like a win for me and my healing knee. chilled on my computer with friends for the rest of the afternoon learning how to play a new board game

day 2355 – bench wear

got into my office this morning to see a package on my desk as large as my desk. this package was ordered back on boxing day when i decided the need to splurge and treat myself to a new jacket. one jacket turned into two jackets and sweatpants because i simply couldn’t turn down such a good deal. i was really happy with how they fit and not comfy the sweatpants were. i’ll enjoy it to the max before the credit card bill comes

day 2261 – pinching defense

defense duties today was fun because my defense partner mentioned i have the green light to pinch at my own risk. i did just that and took advantage especially when the opposing weaker forward was on the ice. i didn’t make any defensive mistakes and even i came so close to potting one in the net. we still won 3-2 to continue the squirtle win streak. i wish i could say the same for nachos

day 2240 – bench view

playing on the wing and trying to keep up beside two very experienced linemates. i had an assist in the game, but honestly i was disappointed with my own play misjudging some and not converting on the many chances. flipping before games really takes the legs out, but i think i just need to train my legs harder to get them into better shape. this will be a long season ahead, let’s get it

day 1639 – bench some


img_20200203_1330321514602717010445712.jpglactic acid setting in but i’ll get cold showers after going ham second straight day. getting ready for the weekend away and bracing myself for the copious amount of food and liquor that’ll be served. it’s that kind of day to work on benching and rowing, something that my hand needs to readjust to. glad to see that i can still do pullups as i work back after such a long stretch

day 1402 – going for it


i most certainly don’t make the best choices when it comes to precautionary circumstances, but i went for it anyways. i’m stoked that i just went triple digit and made my bench pr. benching has always been my weakest major lift; for that reason, i avoid it. i’m told that with my athleticism, i should be able to bench at least my bodyweight; i sneered every time i’m told because i know that’s too much to ask of me. after today, my goal towards bodyweight may not be unachievable after all. thanks for always reminding me it’s a must – you had more belief in me than i ever had

day 1304 Рcrummy friday 

it doesn’t take much time make me feel crummy – just a sleeplessness night and some unjust comments. i couldn’t stop thinking about it and how it made me more uncomfortable. what’s also uncomfortable is my hip, glute and now my quad from the bench fall. somehow i’ll have to get through this thirteen hour work day in a fifteen hour span. i can only convince myself it’s good to be friday although i’ll spend my weekend at taekwondo too
