day 2828 – cleveland dam

the adventure of the day was going to capilano regional park and checking out cleveland dam. the sky and the mountains behind were gorgeous, so gorgeous that i had to do a back tuck. it almost gave me the feeling i was in banff with mini lake louise. i miss traveling seeing the rest of the world, but in the meantime i’ll explore vancouver as much as i can

day 2775 – dora time

exploring has become a big interest of mine during the awkward covid times where masks and social distancing are always reinforced. the vancouver is a very beautiful city with a lot of places to explore. i’m on a mission to capture all the hidden gems around town, but no matter how many times i’ve been to olympic village many times, i can’t get enough of the beautiful view looking across false creek

day 2133 – versailles palace

this place is so beautiful no wonder it’s a hot topic for all tourists. it was a huge palace full of historical paintings, monumental ceiling murals, fancy decor surrounded by a vast garden. i read online to go early to avoid line up outside and it was right – this was the crowd first thing in the morning. it was a hot day and the train ride was a brutal forty minutes there and back with a jam packed cargo and no ventilation

day 1930 – marina bay sands

couldn’t go to singapore and not visit the iconic hotel while doing touristy things. i call it the hotel with surfboard on the top. even though i didn’t manage to watch crazy rich asian before this trip, i know this is crucial checkpoint. the hotel was so nice both inside and outside; i was so amazed by the designs and architecture as i was walking through the common areas within the lobby. this is definitely one hotel i want to stay in next time i’m back

hiking adventure – quarry rock

image

wouldn’t have been a fulfilling long weekend if i didn’t get to go out and enjoy the sunshine we’ve been blessed with. got the first hike of this summer out of the way. it’s a fairly short hikeĀ and rated one of the easier trails of vancouver so it’s definitely a good place to start. the roundtrip there and back was completed in under one and a half hour, in addition to the time spent taking photos and enjoying the scenery. the view at the peak is beautiful overlooking north vancouver. kayaked at this location a number of times but never have i gotten the view of deep cove from up top. hoping i would be able to go on a longer one with even greater rewards.Ā good thing its just the beginning of august and there’s a whole month left before summer season starts to wrap up

day 594 – cherry blossoms

image

happy st patrick’s day everyone!! all signs point towards the arrival of spring season when i look up at the sky of pink filled with cherry blossoms. what a lovely sight walking down rows and rows of pink cherry blossoms on a clear sunny day. too bad these flowers are such short lived and soon they will fall to the ground and make a mess. today calls for spending some time walking around downtown and taking in fresh air

annual ski trip

image

whistler bound on bc family day to continue our crew’s annual ski trip tradition. we skied in smaller groups based on varying speeds and skill level, but reconvened at lunch at whistler village to grab some overpriced pizza slices. after taking a group picture up at the peak of blackcomb gondola, we continued our skiing but this time in different subdivided groups. wished i had the opportunity to have a few runsĀ with the fastest of speedstersĀ as well, but my group wasn’t too slow either. the top of the mountain was beautiful, with snowflakes falling in our faces and fresh powder for our skis and boards to shred. the blue runs highlighted the thrilling experiences carving through thick powder which really worked my legs. my triceps were not a fan of theĀ flats of the green runs or the uphill climbs when it had to do all the work to propell myself across.Ā had so much fun today i wasn’t ready to leave the mountain even when the lifts closed down and my legs were all skied out. would have been even better if i wasn’t still feeling under the weather. i can only wish to be back up whistler very soon

day 558 – whistler we go

image

my first time hitting the slopes this season came very late but i wasn’t about to let a winter season go by without having skied. spending family day upĀ on theĀ mountainĀ and the whistler conditions provided nothing short of excitement. found the blue runs of blackcomb most enjoyable, snow falling at the the top with fresh powder made it best. lots of skiing done and tons of fun to be had, my legs were dead tired by the end. i am still recovering from a cold and bad cough but glad i didn’t have to change my plans and call it off. sometimes i forget how much i enjoy the thrills of carving through the snow, it gives me the sense tranquility and i find myself in calmness yet mixed with rushing adrenaline

day 348 – hot and sunny

image

gorgeous vancouver weather and would be happier if i had more time to enjoy it outside. down at the water front getting myself the required vitamin d from sunlight and summer heat. hope it’s here to stay for a while cause i haven’t started my season and definitely not ready to see it end

day 1 – canada fireworks

image

one of the most impressive celebration of lights showing i have attended. from the crowd reaction, canada made vancouverites proud and displayed some beautiful fireworks. it was definitely worth fighting for a spot on english bay plusĀ the long crowded speed walk and commute back home
