day 2141 – we the north

being an avid basketball fan all these years, i’ve seen everything from the highlights to low-lights of nations basketball. none have been more fulfilling than watching the toronto raptors win the nba title. it’s an interesting feeling watching my two favourite teams going at it in the playoff finals. it was just amazing to watch the calibre of play. this season’s raptors left everything on the floor and found a way to take out the splash brother’s enroute to their well deserved championship

day 2110 – staying home

didn’t really celebrate mother’s day other than sending a whatsapp message to my mother who’s in hong kong spending it with her mother which i’m sure is very special for both of them. i didn’t feel like going out or doing much at all. it’s not like i could have gone to the gym to lift anyways. i was content to stay home and spent the afternoon watching an epic raptors game seven win. it’s great to see the raptors keep their playoff run alive

day 1771 – nba finals

practicing multitasking at dinner trying to chew, shop and watch game three of nba finals at the same time. mom was complaining the whole time to concentrate on only eating. this is one of the few times i’ve been able to sit down and watch the whole basketball game from start to finish. curry and thompson both struggled offsensely, but this warriors team has a deep bench. happy that golden state is one win away from taking the nba title, and happy that they’re denying lebron of his

day 1715 – ready player one

girls night out to watch ready player one and eat teishoku. tuesdays are known for two things: taco tuesday and cheap movie night. this is the way asians think to get the best bang for buck; otherwise regularly priced at twenty four dollars. aotoya was good, but the service was so slow we literally waited forty minutes before food was served. as such, it made me miss my basketball game which was disappointing, but i was too hungry to pack it and go

day 1432 –  strathcona

it was neat to spectate a strathcona and china team basketball game. up until halftime was a good paced game and close matchup. it’s been a long time since i last played or5ganized basketball. it brought back a lot of memories of the hamber hardwood days and how i wished it never ended. i really do miss it but i was told to give it up for the sake of my knee. even though my knee has gotten stronger through the years of rebuilding it, i’ll forever be reminded how long and hard that road was

day 1201 – oval day

image
we don’t go to the richmond olympic oval often, but when we do, we pack our day at the oval with nonstop events. warmed up with some basketball shoot around, rallied and had a friendly badminton match before hitting the main event – fitness centre. so thrilling to be olympic lifting on platforms for the first time and dropping them like a boss without receiving death glares. first platform experience and i made it worthwhile by setting a clean pr. after all that, ended our night swinging away at the batting cage. we rarely have days like this to ourselves, but i definitely enjoyed the day

day 1158 – court side

image

i have watched many of their games on television, so stoked to be watching this game on court side. both are amongst my favourite teams, so i wasn’t rooting for either side. seeing curry, thompson and derozan felt like a once in a lifetime opportunity. this is still preseason, but i hope that matchup happens again in the playoffs, rogers arena was jam packed; i also bumped into at least ten people i knew
