day 2141 – we the north

being an avid basketball fan all these years, i’ve seen everything from the highlights to low-lights of nations basketball. none have been more fulfilling than watching the toronto raptors win the nba title. it’s an interesting feeling watching my two favourite teams going at it in the playoff finals. it was just amazing to watch the calibre of play. this season’s raptors left everything on the floor and found a way to take out the splash brother’s enroute to their well deserved championship

day 2110 – staying home

didn’t really celebrate mother’s day other than sending a whatsapp message to my mother who’s in hong kong spending it with her mother which i’m sure is very special for both of them. i didn’t feel like going out or doing much at all. it’s not like i could have gone to the gym to lift anyways. i was content to stay home and spent the afternoon watching an epic raptors game seven win. it’s great to see the raptors keep their playoff run alive

day 1771 – nba finals

practicing multitasking at dinner trying to chew, shop and watch game three of nba finals at the same time. mom was complaining the whole time to concentrate on only eating. this is one of the few times i’ve been able to sit down and watch the whole basketball game from start to finish. curry and thompson both struggled offsensely, but this warriors team has a deep bench. happy that golden state is one win away from taking the nba title, and happy that they’re denying lebron of his

day 1715 – ready player one

img_20200130_2142227770561148662157897.jpggirls night out to watch ready player one and eat teishoku. tuesdays are known for two things: taco tuesday and cheap movie night. this is the way asians think to get the best bang for buck; otherwise regularly priced at twenty four dollars. aotoya was good, but the service was so slow we literally waited forty minutes before food was served. as such, it made me miss my basketball game which was disappointing, but i was too hungry to pack it and go

day 1432 –  strathcona

img_20200203_154453578956979624499933.jpgit was neat to spectate a strathcona and china team basketball game. up until halftime was a good paced game and close matchup. it’s been a long time since i last played or5ganized basketball. it brought back a lot of memories of the hamber hardwood days and how i wished it never ended. i really do miss it but i was told to give it up for the sake of my knee. even though my knee has gotten stronger through the years of rebuilding it, i’ll forever be reminded how long and hard that road was

day 1201 – oval day

img_20200204_2157413495065761406723592.jpgwe don’t go to the richmond olympic oval often, but when we do, we pack our day at the oval with nonstop events. warmed up with some basketball shoot around, rallied and had a friendly badminton match before hitting the main event – fitness centre. so thrilling to be olympic lifting on platforms for the first time and dropping them like a boss without receiving death glares. first platform experience and i made it worthwhile by setting a clean pr. after all that, ended our night swinging away at the batting cage. we rarely have days like this to ourselves, but i definitely enjoyed the day

day 1158 – court side

image

i have watched many of their games on television, so stoked to be watching this game on court side. both are amongst my favourite teams, so i wasn’t rooting for either side. seeing curry, thompson and derozan felt like a once in a lifetime opportunity. this is still preseason, but i hope that matchup happens again in the playoffs, rogers arena was jam packed; i also bumped into at least ten people i knew

day 1142 – leisure reading

image

slowly but surely my back is able to lift a little more with a little less pain. i’ve been pushing and testing the water for the past two weeks and now i’m almost back to my normal weights. still have to stay away from some lifts and movements until my range increases, but something is better than nothing. my limbs are fatigued but very happy with what my body will allow me to do. getting a head start on the presents i received from mo. he knows my interest within sports and my preference for leisure reading. doms already hit me; i’ll sit back and enjoy my new toys while my legs continue to tear itself apart

day 994 – three championships

image

from handball, to volleyball, to basketball to dodgeball, we’ve been to many finals through the past decade. thinking of all the things we say to each other, the endless pain we inflict on each other, but in the end, the amount of crap we take to play together. this is the love hate relationship we have created; i can’t imagine playing on any of these teams being as much fun without you. we’ve won three dodgeball championships together, this is by far the most memorable and satisfying one because it was so hard earned against our teammates. let’s keep it going

day 684 – golden state’s game

image

forget about training today, i am sitting back to enjoy game 5 basketball finals. after a disappointing game 4, i still believe it is golden state’s series to win especially because i do not want lebron to win. no denying he’s a good player, but i don’t like his cockyness. it’s been a close series and an interesting one nonetheless. at least they didn’t disappoint today and hopefully they close it off on tuesday so i can witness it
