day 2313 – cafe artisans

long talks and coffee kind of day on a cold sunday december afternoon. i can’t believe it’s already the start of december. i just couldn’t wait to turn the page past a horrendous november and move forward to a better december and an even brighter 2020 year ahead. by the time holiday rolls around, i hope to put the finger woes behind me and figure out much of the uncertainties surrounding my ankle

day 2307 – finger splint

a splint on my finger is so suffocating and inconvenient. i hate how it’s so restrictive it is and how it prevents the swelling and bruising to dissipate. i get that i need to protect it when i’m out and around people, but whenever i’m by myself, i would try to remove it to let it air out. i know this is only week one, but hopefully i can get rid of this splint sooner than three weeks

day 2306 – finger fractured

checking into burnaby hospital yet again. i’ve had far too many hospital and clinic visits in the past month. what i feared last night is confirmed by xrays. my middle finger needs to be splinted for a couple weeks. it’s been that kind of a month, not only does my foot not work properly, now my hand is also disabled. how can i not be disappointed one after the other, but i hope by staying positive, it can help with the recovery process

day 1896 – run flat tire

bringing shadow into the car shop to deal with a big nail in my run flat tire. i’m very fortunate to have found somebody who’s able to patch the tire instead if replacing a brand new tire like canadian tire technician said. canadian tire wasted my time bringing it in, waiting and even making a trip out to help the incompetent technician find the wheel key lock. i learn that canadian tire auto parts is not trustworthy

day 1822 – cartwheel

throwing too many cartwheels and attempts of aerials nonstop can lead to severe injuries. i heard some kind of pop as i braced myself with an outstretched arm. i thought it had to be a dislocated shoulder or something had snapped in my elbow. i landed hard but i didn’t want to check what the problem could be because maybe i’m not ready to find out. as stubborn and stupid as i was, i continued practicing but knowing in the back of my mind it could be a major issue that needs attention

day 1529 – shattered thumb

a blocked shot did all the damage. took it directly off my thumb and immediately knew it was broken but kept playing since no one was on site to confirm that. i couldn’t put my bottom hand on the stick, but i played on and eventually put one into the net. although netting the goal should not be my main focus now, it was definitely the saving grace of the game ending injury. i tend to downplay the pain hoping the injury isn’t as bad as it feels. two hospitals and four hours later, the hand specialist decided i can have a splint without immediate surgery. the night ended in a few disappointment, the length of time i’ll be out, and care and support that was present

day 988 – doctor blows

going in to see a medical doctor to satisfy my parents’ even though i knew it was going to be a total waste of time, and i couldn’t be more right. started off the week with a 39 high fever, dropped down a degree or two, but suddenly shot back up to 39 and now i even have cold-like symptoms. the doctor told me i don’t have strep throat, something i could have concluded myself. if i wasn’t semi dying, i wouldn’t even think twice about going in at all. what a way to spend my special one monther
